I know some of you may think "hey what's her problem" sorry, but anyway I have large breasts DDD cup and get alot of spasms in my neck and upper back. I have been evaluated for a breast reduction and definately qualify. I really want to have it done. I'm so tired of always having to buy bigger sizes on the top and yada yada, anyone out there have a breast reduction and any comments on whether to or not to? Thanks!
I would do it in a heartbeat if I had the cash. I have a ton of hanging skin on my tummy right now from weight loss and after we buy our van, we are saving for surgery for me. Along with the tummy tuck, I will get a breast reduction (at least on one side because it is noticeably bigger than the other) and lift. I have no qualms about it. I would, however, never change my face. It's my God-given one and though I'm not real thrilled with it, I'm used to it! LOL!
I could not have afforded to pay for the breast reduction, but a friend who had one advised me to visit a plastic surgeon anyway...that insurance will pay for it if medically necessary. Surprise! The insurance company paid! Don't wait till you can afford it, check it out now.

I'm pretty sure the insurance won't cover the tummy tuck and I'm not done losing weight yet, so I'll go ahead and wait. Maybe once I graduate, I'll go work with a plastic surgeon for awhile and get me a discount! LOL!
Mmkay, I know exactly how odd this question is going to sound. But I gotta ask it. Supposing that, along with your large breasts, you have areolas about 2 inches in diameter? Isn't it gonna look..... very odd if your breasts are smaller? Areolas don't shrink. Yes, I will find any excuse (for now) not to consider the possibility of reduction.
The doctor will reduce the size of the areolas at the same time as the reduction, if desired. It looks great will minimal scarring.
I HAD A BREAST REDUCTION IN 1999 IT WAS PAINFUL FOR ABOUT 2 MO. BUT WELL WORTH IT. JUST TO BE ABLE TO BUY A REG. BRA AND SHIRTS W/O GOING TO SPECIAL STORES. GOOD LUCK :)

How long did it take you before you could lift anything and how heavy of an object could you lift?
Hubby and I are planning on having one more kiddo, then I am having this procedure done no matter what.
Funny, all of my friends told me that after I had my first baby, my boobs would shrink a size or two. They told me that their breasts got even smaller. I was thrilled! I couldn't wait - natural reduction. Only mine grew another size and that's with losing all the babyweight and being my normal body size. I keep telling myself that they can't get any bigger....and mysteriously they do!! :stone
well I couldnt lift for the usual 6 weeks but my lil cousins could climb in my lap. my dr. told me to resume activities as I felt comfortable. I do think I was lifting some things at 3 weeks just not anything too big.
Go for it I have no regrets. If you need some info or other questions ask away.
There is a great website that I found helpful (Breasthealth online) its a message board a lot like this that I got a lot of info from.

GO FOR IT!!!
I had mine done in 1997. I had an HMO actually pay for it with no problem. I had a classic "anchor" incision. Now, the first few weeks afterwards, they DID look awful. Alot of bruising, and they have to "settle" into a more natural shape, and alot of stitches. But within 6 months, they look great, you feel great! Now, seven years later, you can hardly even see the scars. If you are a non-smoker, you heal with MUCH less scarring. DO check with the surgeons techniques and ask for pictures of other cases; I have seen patients that look like they were operated on with a chainsaw, even a year later!!
DO NOT let the pain factor scare you; I had been loaded for bear on the post-op pain issue, but when I woke up, I was VERY surprised! No PCA pump, and I asked for meds maybe 3 times, and had no problems with moving my arms around or getting dressed. NAUSEA was my problem, but that is an anesthesia deal! My home pain meds lasted for about 2 weeks, and I didn't need anything else. The JP drains were annoying, but not painful, and were removed after about 3 days and in the doctors office.
Remember, though, if you gain weight or get pregnant (like me!) your boobs DO get big again, but they are still in proportion to your body. And you might not be able to breastfeed afterwards. Still, it is one of the best decisions I made!:)
