Breast Reduction ???? To or not to ????

I know some of you may think "hey what's her problem" sorry, but anyway I have large breasts DDD cup and get alot of spasms in my neck and upper back. I have been evaluated for a breast reduction and definately qualify. I really want to have it done. I'm so tired of always having to buy bigger sizes on the top and yada yada, anyone out there have a breast reduction and any comments on whether to or not to? Thanks!

I work on a general surgical floor and we care for the reductions that need to spend the nite. I can say that there is definitely scarring-you have to go into the surgery knowing this (look on a cosmetic surgeons web site for pics). Pain control is always a pca and I've never seen anyone without atleast 2 JP's. Hematoma is a risk-we have on average about 1 pt q 2-3 months that has to go back to OR with a hematoma. Despite these issues, one of my co-workers had this done last year and sings its praises from the rooftops!! Says she'd do it over in a second!!

My best friend had it done a few years ago and is THRILLED! She threw away her giant collection of almost brand new and enormous bras (you know the ones that you wear once or twice and can't stand) Now she can just run in the store and get a bra that works! ...No neck and back pain-no sore areas in the warm weather....She did get a post-op staph infection that took awhile to clear up but even that would not disuade her from recommending the procedure to anyone that needs it.....

I have two good friends who had this done. Both are thrilled with the results.

My aunt had this done, she was in the E range, and said she should have done it sooner.

I had this done about ten years ago and would totally recommend having it done. The scarring wasn't an issue for me although it does take awhile for them to fade. It was definitely worth it because I no longer have the upper back pain and burning that comes with having huge breasts. The other benefit was that my breasts were actually pretty to me after the surgery, they look perky. I know that sounds stupid but I had to say it. Hope that this helps. My niece had reduction surgery. She was thrilled to no end. She has two tiny lateral scars and no vertical scars. She's a nurse also and checked out the surgeon before she decided.

I know exactly how you feel. My neck, shoulders and upper back ache all the time. On top of that I have a permanent AC separation on the left, from an on the job injury. And deep grooves in both shoulders from bra straps. I am miserable all the time. I have been thinking about it, but keep telling myself I'm silly. Now I don't think so. Thanks for bringing it up.........:uhoh21:

My sister had it done when she was 14. She was unusually large for her age and complained about back pain. She also wanted to play sports in high school but felt really self concious about her size. She was very brave becaue I don't think I could've made that kind of decison at 14. Especially with girls like Britanny Spears and Lindsay Lohan running around. She's 16 now going on 30 and has positive self esteem. She hasn't had any post operative complications.

.....and the many benefits of having small boobs....

*No more bras.......a couple of Band-Aids will do.

*You can see your feet without bending over.

*You can touch your toes without falling on your face.

*You can run without fear of biting your tongue off from rebounding

boobs!

*You can ride a horse without getting whiplash.

*You can jump off a bus without dislocating your shoulders.

*You can shop for tops in the boys' department.

*Men will notice that you have a face.

*A quick glance is all that's required for a breast exam.

*And a radical mastectomy would go unnoticed.

ddd is huge...i couldn't even begin to imagine what that must be like for you. if your breasts cause you pain and get in the way of daily activites i would definately consider getting breast reduction surgery. i don't think dropping to an a or a b cup would be ideal simply because that's a lot to lose...there's emotional issues that come with any surgery. but any reduction, i think, would be in your best interests. i have a friend with large breasts as well and she hates them. the unwanted attention, the problems with clothing, and the back pain she gets annoys her. she's also considering reduction. i hope it works out well for you!

Mmkay, I know exactly how odd this question is going to sound. But I gotta ask it. Supposing that, along with your large breasts, you have areolas about 2 inches in diameter? Isn't it gonna look..... very odd if your breasts are smaller? Areolas don't shrink. Yes, I will find any excuse (for now) not to consider the possibility of reduction.
