I have been not working since June of this year. My job was cut do to the lovely budget cuts in the state of Florida. My problem is that the main hospitasl in my area all want BSN trained nurses. I am currently in school to get my BSN but I still need a job.

Last time I heard, possibly check Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, Fl.

Hi everyone, I have a question for any one that wants to answer or give an opinion. I work at a state mental hospital and I love the job but hate what is going on there. 1. Forced mandatory overtime, related to nurse shortage staying at least two shifts over a week ( 16hrs shift expected to be back next day with out 8hrs off.)2. Being told by DON that supervisors can't grant any vacation time because of shortage. (PS DON and ADON have taken a vacation in the last 2wks). 3. At least four nurses were laid off related to state budget and all of them are allowed to collect retirement because they have thirty years in. 4. Last, but not least I know one nurse who just did a 24hr shift because of no coverage. What would you do? Leave report it (but I not sure who to report it to ) By the way, have spoken with Nursing union but unless I am a member (which I am not) that can't help and I work in a right to work state. What would you do ?

Hey, I know you posted this a while ago but, did you ever get an answer this is being done now where I work.

I know I might get a lot of bad feed back from this but here goes any way. I have been out of work since of October of 2009 I have been offered a travel assignment that is 3hrs from my home I have traveled before that does not scare me but I just don't have a good feeling about. I was offered the position with out interview on there part and I interviewed them today. The pay is 26hr (I am in Florida so that normal) I was told pt to staff ratio is 1:5 will be day shift (which I have never done before). The hospital name is The Villages which is about 25 miles from Leesburg Florida. My last hospital I worked at was an HCA facility do I need to say more. Should I bite the bullet (its only 13 weeks) and be thankful that I have been offered a job or hope something else closer to home comes along? I just need advise I feel like I am missing my children growing up. My daughter is a Freshman in high school and my son just started middle school. Advice any one? Hollyrobyn

Hi everybody, I usually read most of the time and not post. I just need to find out if this has happened to anyone else. I have been trying for about 8mo to find an office position. I worked nights at a Hospital. I finally found one. I told them that I would not be able to start until April 1. I know this was a Tuesday but my family and I had planned a short vacation prior to me taking this job and there were no refunds plus we had not taken a vacation as a family since 2005. I was really excited about this job, it was 8-5 M-F, no weekends! When we returned from the vacation on Monday there was a message on my answering machine from the office manager of my new job, she said that at this time the Drs. in the office said they did not need anymore staff and she could not hire me. Remind you that I had already given my 2 weeks notice at the hospital and I had done all my shifts. Now I am unemployed. I can't even go back to the hospital because my nurse manager was holding my spot for up coming ACP's who are graduating in May. It's a little depressing for my whole family because my husband and I had told our kids that mom would be home at night and would be home on the weekends. Most likely I am going to have to go back to another hospital to work. Has this happened to any one else? (sorry this is so long)

I need some advice. I have had my license for a year did what every body said to do. You need a least 1 year of Med-Surg before you can even get into L & D. Now I have tried all the hospital around my home even one 1 hour away they won't hire on less you have experiecne. Tell me how to get experience if they won't hire. I also found out they just hired GN's. Help please this is what I have wanted to do. Need any advice. Thanks, Hollyrobyn

Hi, I kind of no what you are going thru. Last year I just started nursing school and received custody of my niece and nephew plus I already have two kids of my own. My mother -in- law was living with who was under hospice care passed away in May my father also had terminal cancer and passed away in September. I took last summer semester off just to cope with everthing. Listen to what you heart tells. It will work out. Good Luck Will graduate in August.

I like to know if any one has used NCLEX Reveiw cards by Springhouse. I would use Kaplan but they don't make one for PN and I am taking PN NCLEX.
