Brandman University ABSN Program

Published

Hi All,

I'm wondering if any one has heard of Brandman University. They have a new ABSN program in San Diego, CA that i'm looking into. My grades are not competitive but i want to get into my career soon.

Has anyone been to this school, and if so, how did you like it? Do you think I'll be able to land a good job as an RN if I were to apply and attend? I'm nervous, since it is a new program! Such as, what if they end up closing and the degree won't be valid ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone,

is anyone in Cohort 4?

Specializes in Future Nursing Student.

Received a letter last week from Brandman stating that I was waitlisted. Anyone else hear back? Anyone else have experience with being waitlisted and reapplying/getting accepted?

Hello Katherine,

It was the same thing. I was placed in waitlist. It's not bad new and not good new for us either. We will be in patient. Don't give up.

Hey guys,

I am currently admitted into cohort 5 and am taking the required Liberal Arts classes. So far, I haven't been a fan. I feel a little sketched out by this school. I currently have been accepted into a lot of state schools for public health, so I have that as a backup option until May 1st (unless I miraculously make it into their nursing programs). I have a lot of anxiety about Brandman because the BSN route is fairly new and there aren't any NCLEX pass rates yet. I would love to hear from cohorts that have started the nursing core and clinicals. I'm scared of a new program losing accreditation, or it just not being doable because it is so fast paced. Also, it's just soooo expensive, so there's that too. Thoughts from maybe cohort 1 or 2?

There's a private facebook group that you can join with all cohorts in it.  Brandman ABSN Students.  If you browse through this thread I think you will find a positive report from someone in one of the earlier cohorts as well a big discussion from me about costs . . .  I personally was impressed with my orientation, and the responsiveness of the admin.   All I've taken is the required Liberal Arts classes which, despite wishing I didn't have to do them as I already was a skilled writer etc., I thought were well done.   Maybe my teachers were more suited to me.  I'm in cohort 4, starting core nursing in a month.

Hey,

Thanks so much for the supportive comment. You know, I stopped using facebook a while ago because of their issues with privacy, but it sounds like it's time for me to jump back in. Great to hear that there is a supportive environment for current and incoming students.

Best of luck to you in your journey!

Hi, you're welcome to email me : [email protected]; I am in cohort 2.

Specializes in CNA/CBS.

Hi everyone! First of all congrats to everyone who  were recently accepted! I have a few questions...

I know GPA can be an awkward conversation for some but, I am currently applying with a 3.4 science GPA (bio101 on straighterline was a nightmare ?), 5 years of military medical experience, 3 strong letters of recommendation and (what I believe to be LOL) a strong goal statement. Can someone be REAL with me and give me some insight? Do you think I’m a decent candidate? What do you think about the program thus far? What should I expect or be on the look out for? Some insider advice would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to ALL OF YOU ❤️

I’d like to say yes. They love people who got past experiences in healthcare (almost all of us in cohort got some) +your military ticket+strong LORs. There’s a big chance you’d get in the current cohort you’re applying to. Make sure to say all these in your essay

Update: I found out I actually will be applying with a 3.0 cumulative and a 3.654 science GPA. I have really strong letters of recommendation and what I believe to be a glowing goal statement as well as military medical experience. I feel like I’m not competitive enough anymore ? I didn’t realize I have two bad grades on a transcript from a school I attended 8 years ago... I have since retaken the classes since then at a different school. But the school doesn’t have an academic forgiveness program. So I have to unfortunately factor two bad grades in and it brought my cum GPA down. Any words of advice??? Or encouragement ?

Hello Everyone!
I just started working on my personal statement. This is my first time writing one. So any advice from those who got accepted would be greatly appreciated. Send me a DM on here or ig (iamjcv) for any questions about my application.  Thank you!
