I am still in nursing school (but not for long!!:) ) We are doing our final clinical rotation at a local nursing home. We are given around 13 pts. to give meds to and it seems like no matter how many times I check the MAR and the meds, I do the 5 rights etc, I still leave wondering if I forgot something, did i give the right person the right meds etc...It is ridiculous how much time I spend after I leave worrying about the things I did!! I hope this will soon stop!!

I think its normal. Bet you will more comfortable the more you do it. Be confident and always keep that intuition rolling.
Best of luck to you

I've been a nurse for 5 months now and I still feel like that. I also feel guilty when I leave because my patients' rooms are never in good order and I'm always passing the buck on something. I work very hard and don't take my breaks, but there's just constant guilt and the inability to complete things well. Sigh.

It's normal and to some extent, the best nurses never lose this "edge". Complacency has no place in any area of nursing.

It's normal to feel this way, I have been a nurse for more years than I am going to mention, ha! ha! and just one night last week, I was already home, something popped into my head that I had forgotten to do. I don't even know what made me think of it, because I don't dwell on work after I leave, but, occasionally something will pop into my brain that I forgot to do. I called the 3-11 nurse and told her so she would be aware. I have even gone back to the facility after I get home if it's something that I felt couldn't wait until tomorrow. We all have a good working relationship so nobody gets bent out of shape, but, like I said, if it was something that couldn't wait or something that only I could do in order to be legal, I have gone back. Not the end of the world but aggravating at times. I think as I get older I get worse!!!!
