Warning, this post is a little whinny.
Since about February, I've been catching nearly half of the illness that have been coming through my office. I feel like I finally get better for like 2-3 days, and then boom! Another cold or GI bug decides to latch on to me. Currently I'm at my desk with a melodic barking cough that started yesterday.
I wash my hands between all of my little ones and I clean everything to the point where you can smell the clorox in the hallway.
Is this just the life of a new school nurse? Do you guys have any immune boosting tips?
I am standing up in a wedding in two weeks and I'm considering just wearing a mask for the rest of the year.
Before I became a nurse I worked at my son's preschool for one year. It was the worst year, because I was literally sick for the entire year!!! That was about 5 years ago. I get sick about once or twice a year now once with a GI bug that only causes some nausea and once a year with a virus that causes a cough. So it will get better. However, I also have noticed a huge difference in my health once I started taking 10,000 units of cholecalciferol/vitamin D3 per week.
I have a pretty good immune system and haven't had a sick day at my previous job in years. First full year as a school nurse and I got walking pneumonia in the winter. But nothing since. First year is rough.
I also think that the stress of figuring out my school, my job, and how to manage it didn't help. I am less stressed about my job 4 years in because I know the ropes :).

So you got the hand washing part. Add a daily dose of work-out and recommended amount of water intake and PPE and PPE and PPE all the way! This works for me.
