Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I got all my books today. All 8 new books and 1 used book for a total of $534.50. :crying2: I started reading Clinical Calculations. These books are so heavy. I was glad I took my boyfriend with me because my rolling bookbag wasn't enough. How much is everyone spending? Classes start Aug. 15th.

I just bought the required texts for the first term. Plus I purchased a couple of recommended texts. Total cost was $1,300. Add to that a PDA and a new digital voice recorder and BAM...looks like the family will be eating Krafto for a while LOL.

I live in Canada where everything costs twice as much :rotfl:

Good luck with your program

I so feel your pain. When we went to school yesterday to pick up our uniforms and do our ID pics, I noticed the bookstore was still closed. I took a bet that they wouldn't have many of the books used anyway, so I just came home and ordered them online. Even getting all of them used, I paid around $435.00 :( once shipping was included. Of course, that's NOT including the additional book we'll have to buy halfway through the semester for NUR185 :angryfire

Geez I'm so broke. Think I'll be packing brown bag lunches through this semester.

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

Around the same neighborhood as you paid for 3 measly books :bluecry1:

Sorry, I just assumed you already knew that from the thread about orientation. Nice to meet you! Don't suppose you're in section 8, huh? That would be a big coincidence.

No. I'm in Section 1. I'll be at Plantation Estates for my clinicals. How about yourself. By the way I'm Danielle. I hate the fact that I have to drive to Matthews for my clinicals :crying2: Oh well. I'll take whatever the Lord sees fit.

I was also wondering if there is a website where you can get books for discount prices.

I was originally in Section 11, but we already lost enough people for them to cut that section and spread those of us who were in it to other ones...hence how I ended up in Section 8. I'll be in Huntersville for morning clinicals. A lot of people were complaining about how far it was, but I'm from Lincolnton and it's no further for me than going to Charlotte. Commuting to Matthews could be difficult, though. At least most people who live in Matthews commute to Charlotte instead of the other way around, so maybe traffic won't be at its worst on your way there.

Still, the commute for either clinical is going to be hard for students who are parents. My own son isn't with me on Thursday and Friday mornings. I don't know how I'd work it out if he was. I'll already be getting up at 5:30 to get there on time.
