Hey just wondering about my fellow LPN students on here!! I am starting my program in Sept. Going to a Boces LPN program upstate NY. I haven't ordered my books yet. Has anyone started the studying ahead of time or are you waiting for your program to start??
I begin in September and have picked up some books from library regarding Anatomy and Physiology for Nurses. I try to read/study 1 hour a day this way when I begin school material isn't completely foreign. My books will be distributed the first day of school. They instructed me to bring a book bag with wheels too.
Hi everyone, I start a 10 mnth LPN program Aug. 28th. We had orientation in June and got our booklist then. I can not get over there are some schools mentioned that you don't get your booklists until school starts THATS CRAZY! With all that said...We got emails last week saying we should read first two Ch. in the following books. A&P, Fundamentals of Nursing and Nursing leadership before school begins. I will also say that I flipped through ALL 19 books and I'm excited and a little overwhelmed! Congrats to all in the same boat and Thankfully we have this website and each other:yeah:

Well first of all Congratz! I just finished Rockland BOCES LPN program and getting ahead on the reading can't hurt, because you will have plenty of reading to do along the way. I would say that it can't hurt to start reading about your Nursing Fundementals or A & P (memorize your bones and muscles) We spent the first 3 months on these 2 areas. Good luck and stay ahead of the game, playing catch up is really rough.
Absolutely get your books now. As others suggested, read at least the 1st 2 chapters; more if you are able. Doing this always made a difference for me. It's overwhelming enough when you start back to school, so getting a head start on the material, gaining a comfort level with it BEFORE you get into the classroom will serve you well.
Depends on your instructor. I actually got an email a few weeks ago from an instructors encouraging us to start reading now. As was posted before, check with your school's bookstore. They should have the books required for each course. I know what books I need and what they will cost, but I have to wait until the bookstore opens up Financial Aid charging on August 1 so that I can afford to buy my books.
I start one of the boces LPN programs september 6th and im hoping to save enough to get the first three books on the list asap so i can study up! im very nervous to go back to school after being out of college for a few years, plus what harm can it do right?!?

Hi, I am in Rochester General Hospital's private school Isabella.Graham Hart. I begin August 28th part-time.
I looked up "lpn" on the "Quizlet" website and found some great internet flashcards, games and vocabulary. I've been studying my vocab and I'm getting better. You can look up medical abbreviations and study those too. Also the Innerbody.com is an interactive anatomy website that is also helpful.
YouTube videos are also good for medical math and anatomy videos.
Check the library for those "for dummies" books.
Good luck!
