Books!! Do you think it is necessary to study before Sept. Start??

Hey just wondering about my fellow LPN students on here!! I am starting my program in Sept. Going to a Boces LPN program upstate NY. I haven't ordered my books yet. Has anyone started the studying ahead of time or are you waiting for your program to start??

I waited for my program to start. 1) I wasn't sure what classes were first. 2) you never know if the teacher is going to skip chapters or something.

It wouldn't hurt to read ahead if you want. I just choose not to

one study tip i learned is to read the first two chapters before the semester starts. I ordered my books today, I start the 20th of Aug. so i plan to have them arrive in 3 days (expedited shipping) and read the first two chapters of all 4 books, to be prepared and have a leg up, you know? good luck!

Thanks to both! I am so anxious to start!! I guess since I start in Sept I can get them by mid Aug and start going through them.. Good luck :)

I would actually love to read a head of time, and have my books now. However, we don't have our orientation until the day before class starts, and I guess they will give us our book list then. I don't know how common that is, but I was pretty disappointed I wasn't getting my book list earlier. I surely hope they don't expect us to have all our books the first day of class and have to buy them through the campus bookstore. I wanted to shop online.

Wow the book list the day before class is cutting it close for the students! Hopefully they will give you enough time to purchase the books where you want! Good luck

I havent gotten my book list yet. I also am going through a BOCES in upstate NY and start September 4th. Once I get the list I will order them and probably browse through them to see what is in them and where things are located.

Nevermind that question!!! LMAO you already answered that in another post!! Sorry!!! LOL

do yourself a favor and check the college's website for the bookstore. they usually update it daily, and if you look there, sometimes the books are there earlier. Like I have PNE161 and Nur135 as two of my 4 classes.....and i just found them last night by looking. went to the college website, typed in bookstore in the search, and there wass a booklist for the entire school. just a tip, hope it helps!

Great idea! I am going to look online now! Thanks :)

We get our books directly from the school -- their cost is built into our tuition. We will pick them up the week before school starts.. and yes, I will be getting a head start on reading that week! I'd like to get at least the first couple of chapters done before the first day.

Hi, I am in Rochester General Hospital's private school Isabella.Graham Hart. I begin August 28th part-time.

I looked up "lpn" on the "Quizlet" website and found some great internet flashcards, games and vocabulary. I've been studying my vocab and I'm getting better. You can look up medical abbreviations and study those too. Also the Innerbody.com is an interactive anatomy website that is also helpful.

YouTube videos are also good for medical math and anatomy videos.

Check the library for those "for dummies" books.

Good luck!
