Books to complement learning

where is the book club thread?? I am looking into getting some books too. If I bought them all at once I'd lose my house, I need to start slowly LOL

Well, lets see. I have:

1.) Mosby's Comprehensive Review of NCLEX-RN w/ CD 17th edition. I use it to review for all tests in nursing. It also has a brief descpiction of all body systems. This is my Bible for studying.

2.) All-in-One Care planning resource. Covers Med/Surg, Peds, Maternity, and Psychiatric Nursing care plans.

3.) Mosby's Nursing Care Plans 5th Edition Online care plan Constructor, By Gulanick.

4.) Pickar, Dosage Calculations. I got the 5th Edition on B&N for 12.99. It came with a CD for more practice. I have severe problems with math. I can understand this book. It is self taught and I LEARNED it on my own!!

ooh yeah make this a sticky I am starting my program in the fall and I defintley will be coming back to this post. I just got the Mosby NCLEX Review. Since I am so new I am just trying to work my way through it and uderstand it.

I just bought Kaplan's NCLEX-Rn review and really like it. I like it for the stategies it gives you to answer all types of questions. The practice section isn't the greatest because you can't break it down to what you are currently learning about like other books, but the strategies it has is awesome!

If you need/want a dosage calculation book, I have Math for Meds, 8th ed. (Curren & Munday). It's required in my program - we'll use it throughout all the nursing courses. Besides a basic math review, I like that it uses photos of actual labels, so you get used to looking at the real thing, even before you're passing meds in clinical.

I'm also working my way through an anatomy coloring book. Might sound silly, but A&P was over a year ago, and it's a nice review. As a bonus, I've found that some time spent coloring with my daughter really decreases the stress level, and the questions that she asks me about the pictures also stimulate my memory. :)

Where in the world did you find an anatomy coloring book? We would have a ball with that here in my house! Trey (my four year old) is already looking at all my old charts, etc and asking about everything!
