Hello SSNVA1: I work a full time job. That is one of the reasons why I applied to Bon Secours School of Nursing. They know that I work a full time job as well. They never questioned it or made a big deal about it. I have heard though from a current student at Bon Scours that working a full time job and going to school is hard. The program is very demanding. I don't let that discourage me though, I look at this way, if you have the motivation and determination, nothing will stand in your way. As far as good teachers, since you still have anatomy to take, I highly recommend Dr. Otelia Vines, she was teaching at J Sarg but I believe she will be teaching A&P 1 & 2 at John Tyler. Who would you recommend for Bio 101 & 102? Still have those to take as well as microbiology.

Hi SSNVA1:

I am currently FT, with plans to go PT during school. Bon Secours told me that they highly recommend I work no more than 20 hours, so this is my plan. This could have been specific to my situation, as I am married with a 10 and 12 year old at home - homework, sick kids, general family demands, etc. But I do agree that with proper motivation, discipline and study habits, we can do anything we set our minds to do. It just may be tougher with non-stop semesters for 2 1/2 years - no summers off to decompress. Do what is right for you!

RNnthemaking,

Proff. Mott is a really good Bio teacher. He his downtown though. Make sure you check ratemyprofessor.com before you select a teacher. It REALLY helped me get good teachers and I have been able to make all A's.

ssnva1 - John Tyler has an online/night/weekend program called the Commonwealth Nursing Program. "Classroom" is done online and clinicals are night/weekend. I am working full time and starting the program in the fall (I also have 2 kids). From what I am told it will be a lot of work but doable. It's a pretty competitive entry. You can find more info on their website, or PM me if you are interested.

Yes it was alot of info. Glad that I wasn't the only one feeling a little overwhelmed just by looking at it. I am confused about how we pay for our J Sarg classes. The financial aid lady at J Sarg told me that we had to pay for them out of pocket and I guess Bon Secours would reimburse us because we cannot get aid for both places.

I received mine too - overwhelmed is definitely the word. Did you notice a few of the deadlines mentioned are less than two weeks away!

I called today and spoke to Cathy. We are not do sign up for any classes untill we meet with our advisors. We do reg for our J sarg classes, but they are paid for (if we have it) with the pell grant or whatever aid you got. The only class that our advisor signs us up for is Micro Bio and that is a group reg. They were so nice in answering my questions. I am sure I will have more as time goes on.

As for Emj1818 you sould have received your packet, I would call and see where yours is at because some of our stuff has to be in by June 2nd.
