My license expire in June, but I got a letter from the Board of Nursing, saying that I got randomly selected for an audit and that I have to submit the prof for 30 hr continue education in 10 days.
Can they ask it before my license is up for renewal? I thought I have until June to finish them. I only have 10 hr, and the year ends tomorrow. I can not get the other 20 in one day.
Does anybody know how to deal with this?
Thank you,

All nursing licenses expire in November in Alaska. You may have gotten your license here in June but they all expire in November. Check the nursing board website at Alaska.gov and search for the Board of Nursing.

It could be related to your previous renewal. You have to keep proof of CE for quite a few years.

They are asking for proof that you had the appropriate number of hours for your last renewal. You told them that you have completed your 30 hours for the last renewal, now they want you to prove it. It has nothing to do with your current renewal.

OP posted in the California forum...so unless you know something about the OP that the rest of us don't, the OP should be addressing the BRN in CA.
OP: The BRN can audit you at ANY time. I would spend the next few days focusing on getting that evidence together for the BRN if you want to keep your license active. They're referring to the 30 CEUs that you completed for your last renewal, not the 30 you are working on for your June renewal.
Next time when you renew, submit copies of the CEU completion certificates as attachments with your renewal application. That's what I do and I've been able to avoid being audited so far.

I got audited once by the TX BON. I just submitted the proof of the CEUs I completed & that was that.

Read the notice again for the dates. You will probably see it's for your last renewal. You are required to keep copies of your last four years. The other information was inaccurate. Do not send in your CEU copies with your renewals as the BON and BVNPT do not keep them for you. The audit is normally random and has nothing to do if you submit copies with your renewal. If you are audited, per law it is your responsibility to submit the copies upon request. Do not rely on the CEU companies to keep copies either. As soon as you are done with a CEU, make a copy and keep them with your important papers for 4 years and then trade out with current ones. If you're audited, you know exactly where they are, you send them in certified and you can breathe easy as you have complied with the law. My coworker was audited and running around freaking out because she can't find them. It's your professional license and should treat it as such.
