BMCC NURSING PROGRAM FALL 2021

Published

Good evening Everyone,

I have a question and it seems like everyone on this forum responds much quicker than the school does so please respond if you know the answer to this.

I plan on applying to BMCC’s nursing program in Fall 2021, I’ve completing my prerequisites (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100, Chem 121) and have gotten an A or A- in all my classes and accumulated a 3.9 GPA. I just completed Eng 201(which is not a prerequisite) Summer session with a C-. I’ve taken Speech 100 & I’m taking BIO 425 and Psy240 this fall.

Based on what I was told by The nursing dept, they only look at your grades for the 4 prereq’s (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100 & BIO425) but I’m wondering if I should retake my ENG 201 class for a better grade.

Please note I’m in the process of reaching out to my English 201 professor to dispute my C- grade.
And I’m considering transferring to other nursing schools since BMCC’s process is lengthy.
Please share your thoughts, Thank you!

Well, all nurses does not allow you to write names, so my recommendations would just come up as a bunch of stars LOL. That being said, there are some great professors at bmcc -- but you have to look and do your research. and I could recommend a great teacher who worked with my learning style, but it might not work with yours. I used rate my professor and have had fine professors. just read the comments there, take everything with a grain of salt, and have professors in mind before registration has opened. the best professors tend to be snatched up quickly, and because cuny loves to underpay their professors, many are adjunct and do not stay for more than one or two professors. for example, I had an amazing A&P 1 professor, (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) but she is no longer teaching at bmcc as of right now. good luck!

Thank you very much for the information.

I appreciate it.

Any site book(s) to use to prepare before I start ?

Hi everyone,

How is everyone doing on HESI so far?

Is anyone taking it next week?

I took mine yesterday, trying to estimate how many applicants there are.

Good luck to anyone who's exam date is coming up!!

There’s probably a ton of applicants. I took mine this week and scored an 82 overall. A&P was my weakest subject. Hoping the combo of my GPA and score is enough but we shall see. How did you do?

I got a 88% over all. Math was my weakest subject. Took it yesterday. I wonder how more days of testing there is.

I found this from another semester to help anyone calculate the GPA and HESI.

honestly, no I don't think so. the PCI courses are pretty straight forward, especially for the day program - VERY simple nursing math, basic psychology, basic english composition, anatomy. I would really recommend taking both anatomy courses (or being in the process of the second one) before you take your HESI.

Waw! That’s a nice spoon feeding.

I’ll try & do my best for the PCI & be ready ahead for the HESI. How long does it take to be done with the PCI? Just a semester or two?

That’s a good question. I think it’s a full week but not sure

To Abdou:

I'm an evening applicant, so I had additional requirements. It took me three semesters to complete all 5 PCI courses in addition to A&P 2, Microbiology, Eng 2, & Speech simply because the Micro and A&P have prerequisites and I had to take them in that order.

However, MAT 104 MUST be taken at BMCC, in case you are transferring other other eligible PCI credits from another school. If not, then you can finish the five courses in a year or less.

This is a breakdown of when I did my courses:

Spring 2020

-MAT 104

-ENG 101

-PSY 100 (this was transferred from my previous school)

-CHE 121

-SPE 100

Summer 2020

-BIO 425

Fall 2020

-ENG 201

-BIO 426

Spring 2021

-BIO 420

Ow! I gat you. For the evening you require more courses.

The way you attended it was cool.

Thanks for the info!
