Good evening Everyone,
I have a question and it seems like everyone on this forum responds much quicker than the school does so please respond if you know the answer to this.
I plan on applying to BMCC’s nursing program in Fall 2021, I’ve completing my prerequisites (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100, Chem 121) and have gotten an A or A- in all my classes and accumulated a 3.9 GPA. I just completed Eng 201(which is not a prerequisite) Summer session with a C-. I’ve taken Speech 100 & I’m taking BIO 425 and Psy240 this fall.
Based on what I was told by The nursing dept, they only look at your grades for the 4 prereq’s (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100 & BIO425) but I’m wondering if I should retake my ENG 201 class for a better grade.
Please note I’m in the process of reaching out to my English 201 professor to dispute my C- grade.
And I’m considering transferring to other nursing schools since BMCC’s process is lengthy.
Please share your thoughts, Thank you!

I do not know maybe this forum is good luck because I noticed that everyone that usually posts on here always gets in. Maybe it just the group of students that care more or dunno. I've been reading these forums for 2 years already following each semester and I can not believe that I am finally on here posting too. I pray that I get into the program. I have been using Nursehub, the HESI review book and quizlet to study. What are you guys using. I've been trying to listen to the advice of others who posted.
Stay positive! Hopefully we will all get in ?
I've been doing practice tests...https://uniontestprep.com/HESI-exam/practice-test/anatomy-and-physiology/pages/1

so far the hardest part is reading comprehension for me. I don't know why ?. Always seems like multiple options could be the answer and I get confused
Yes, hopefully. I wish they would make take a larger amount of students since so many people apply for the program and there are not many evening programs. There is a bunch of day programs not evening. I wish they would take more for the evening.
Thank you, I will look into those links.
A&P is the hardest for me. It's so much information to learn and remember.
exactly, it's hard to know what area they'll ask about. and most of us took A&P a few semesters ago so it's not fresh in our minds. I'm trying to do the practice tests to get an idea of how they phrase the questions and what they're looking for in terms of answers for the reading portion. Not gonna lie the 5th grade math is not easy either LOL fractions are not my friend
I've been using nursehub, pocket prep, quizlets, the HESI book, and then I bought another book thats just 3 full practice tests. I'm feel like 80% confident with A&P...depending on the area. sometimes I take practice tests and I consistently get in the high 90's...but then if they ask me a bunch of questions about the ears or eyes I do sooo poorly LOL. cannot get the sense organs to stick in my brain at all!
the 5th grade math is no joke LOL. I've been struggling hard with the linear equations...also when do we have to solve for Y in nursing? I would love to know! If anyone needs help with fractions though, they are one of the few things I'm really good at in math LOL so I can for sure help!

silvia who is also in this group taught me this mnemonic for the household measurements which I wasnt able to memorize until this:
1 General hospital, there are 4 Quiet rooms, with 2 Patients each, and each Patient has 2 cups of orange juice
basically, 1 gallon = 4 Quarts = 2 pints = 2 cups !!

I've been here for some time reading some of your messages, & I’ve learnt a lot for it.
I’m planning to take the prerequisite courses this coming Fall, so which lecturers would you recommend me to take?
I’m afraid to take a lecturer that wouldn’t appreciate my efforts, haha!
Well, all nurses does not allow you to write names, so my recommendations would just come up as a bunch of stars LOL. That being said, there are some great professors at bmcc -- but you have to look and do your research. and I could recommend a great teacher who worked with my learning style, but it might not work with yours. I used rate my professor and have had fine professors. just read the comments there, take everything with a grain of salt, and have professors in mind before registration has opened. the best professors tend to be snatched up quickly, and because cuny loves to underpay their professors, many are adjunct and do not stay for more than one or two professors. for example, I had an amazing A&P 1 professor, (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) but she is no longer teaching at bmcc as of right now. good luck!
