BMCC NURSING PROGRAM FALL 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Good evening Everyone,

I have a question and it seems like everyone on this forum responds much quicker than the school does so please respond if you know the answer to this.

I plan on applying to BMCC’s nursing program in Fall 2021, I’ve completing my prerequisites (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100, Chem 121) and have gotten an A or A- in all my classes and accumulated a 3.9 GPA. I just completed Eng 201(which is not a prerequisite) Summer session with a C-. I’ve taken Speech 100 & I’m taking BIO 425 and Psy240 this fall.

Based on what I was told by The nursing dept, they only look at your grades for the 4 prereq’s (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100 & BIO425) but I’m wondering if I should retake my ENG 201 class for a better grade.

Please note I’m in the process of reaching out to my English 201 professor to dispute my C- grade.
And I’m considering transferring to other nursing schools since BMCC’s process is lengthy.
Please share your thoughts, Thank you!

Hello Eve, My name is Jessica Ayala. I just finished my last PCi class and I have a PCI GPA of 3.82. Do you believe this GPA will be high enough to be accepted into the nursing program. I have an A in chem, anatomy 1 and Psychology , A- in English and a B+ in math. Thanks So much

I would also love to be added to the HESI study group if possible

Hi ,

Good luck - heads up if  you get admitted . You will need some money! Its about 3000 altogether. Book package, uniform, tools needed and background check, medical check , vaccines plus your tuition, Wish someone had told me and I would have saved a bit for it!

HESI is not bad - math dude on you tube and nurse hub helped me a lot . Just keep practice and you will do fine. Critical thinking is like scenarios in hospital settings and what is the best answer. keep up  math for meds you will need them at beginning  of semester .

That is true, but it seems like the requirements keep changing from a year ago as I had to look at the updates just now. For the evening, the five PCI are CHE 121 (which implemented for Fall 2020 onward), ENG 101, MAT 104, BIO 425 & PSY 100 (I remember before you could've swapped this with SOC 100).

BIO 426 and BIO 420 are also required before entering the program.

ENG 201 is listed on the latest checklist and I am now unsure if it is factored into the entry GPA. I also see SPE 100.

I had also once emailed the nursing advisor and she sent me the requirements info. One thing that I was unsure of is if I can take a class while applying for the program and she told me that only BIO 420 can have a grade pending while I submit the application. That's the last class I am taking this semester as I will be applying for the fall.

I apologize if I am repeating myself from my previous post or providing unnecessary information, but I would definitely welcome any corrections, clarifications, or information that I am missing or wrong about.

Everything you said is spot on.
speech and Eng 201 aren’t factored into the PCI GPA. And yes 420 can be pending before you take the HESI.

Wow, thank you SO much for this info! super, super helpful. About the HESI science portion, were you only tested on A&P? I've been getting overwhelmed trying to remember everything I learned in physics, chem, and bio..and then I realized on the website it only signifies that we're tested on A&P. Would you say thats accurate?

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post on here, as I have been reading all of your very informational posts over the past 9 months while doing my prerequisites. I am currently taking BIO 426 and ENG 201 again to replace a 'C' I got in the class 19 years ago. ;/ I submitted my NPAC via email (for FALL 2021) about two weeks ago, and have yet to get a response (even a confirmation of application receipt via email). I was just wondering what the process is like and how/when they typically respond? I know I am on the very early side of submitting this for the process, but was just wondering if they typically wait a few months to respond to these later in the semester? I have A's in MATH, PSY, CHEM, BIO 425, and B in ENG 101. Hope everyone is doing well this semester,

Best

Did anyone else get their test dates and times?
