Good evening Everyone,
I have a question and it seems like everyone on this forum responds much quicker than the school does so please respond if you know the answer to this.
I plan on applying to BMCC’s nursing program in Fall 2021, I’ve completing my prerequisites (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100, Chem 121) and have gotten an A or A- in all my classes and accumulated a 3.9 GPA. I just completed Eng 201(which is not a prerequisite) Summer session with a C-. I’ve taken Speech 100 & I’m taking BIO 425 and Psy240 this fall.
Based on what I was told by The nursing dept, they only look at your grades for the 4 prereq’s (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100 & BIO425) but I’m wondering if I should retake my ENG 201 class for a better grade.
Please note I’m in the process of reaching out to my English 201 professor to dispute my C- grade.
And I’m considering transferring to other nursing schools since BMCC’s process is lengthy.
Please share your thoughts, Thank you!
I know, I hate it too. You would think they would understand that we need to plan our entire life around doing this program and most of us work and have children. We not kids. Also we have a orientation that is mandatory and people need to make arrangements not wait till the last minute and then throw it on us. If class starts the end of August and we need uniforms and books and background and medical clearance and the BLS training us finding that information out 6 weeks before is not a lot of time to get all those things done. Those things cost money too. How can we be prepared if we don't Like for the HESI exam. She literally told me 2 weeks before what the date and time was and usually they do the testing later in May. I had to take off work etc. So they need to get it together and be more efficient. Preaching to us about how we need to be to be nurses but not practicing it. It's annoying and I wonder how much of the overall program is unorganized.

All I've is my syllabus gave us. She is very meticulous. All we needed to do is follow the syllabus, read the necessary materials before class and follow along with her slides. Nothing special.
It is a lot of info so missing a class or not paying attention can really side line you.
Prof (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) is the best!
