Good evening Everyone,
I have a question and it seems like everyone on this forum responds much quicker than the school does so please respond if you know the answer to this.
I plan on applying to BMCC’s nursing program in Fall 2021, I’ve completing my prerequisites (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100, Chem 121) and have gotten an A or A- in all my classes and accumulated a 3.9 GPA. I just completed Eng 201(which is not a prerequisite) Summer session with a C-. I’ve taken Speech 100 & I’m taking BIO 425 and Psy240 this fall.
Based on what I was told by The nursing dept, they only look at your grades for the 4 prereq’s (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100 & BIO425) but I’m wondering if I should retake my ENG 201 class for a better grade.
Please note I’m in the process of reaching out to my English 201 professor to dispute my C- grade.
And I’m considering transferring to other nursing schools since BMCC’s process is lengthy.
Please share your thoughts, Thank you!
This waiting game is easily the most frustrating thing, but I can see how it only gets worse on from here. The waiting for any information for the HESI was BRUTAL and I too understand that there is only one person, however I don't find it fair to those of us who are fighting tooth and nail. As someone else mentioned, even if were not accepted it'd be good to know. On my end if I don't get accepted, I need to take other classes next semester and what if while I am waiting to hear back they fill up. Another thing is I work full time, if I get accepted I need to make schedule changes at work, as my luck would have it, classes interfere with my schedule and I would love to be able to give this information to my boss with ample time so we could figure out coverage. It has been over a month, it is just hard to believe that it really takes this long to find out.

You would think they would understand that we need to plan our entire life around doing this program and most of us work and have children. We not kids. Also we have a orientation that is mandatory and people need to make arrangements not wait till the last minute and then throw it on us. If class starts the end of August and we need uniforms and books and background and medical clearance and the BLS training us finding that information out 6 weeks before is not a lot of time to get all those things done. Those things cost money too. How can we be prepared if we don't Like for the HESI exam. She literally told me 2 weeks before what the date and time was and usually they do the testing later in May. I had to take off work etc. So they need to get it together and be more efficient. Preaching to us about how we need to be to be nurses but not practicing it. It's annoying and I wonder how much of the overall program is unorganized.
Yes, this is BMCC. It has been a frustrating nightmare, to say the least.
Don't forget to consider NCLEX pass rates for the NY programs you look into, official link below:
Hey guys
this situation with uncertainty drives me crazy. I really can’t think about anything else. I didn’t take any classes in Summer to have time to relax and forget about school for a while. But I can’t ?. Waiting is killing me. I don’t enjoy things cause all I think is what will I do if I get in or not. These thoughts are tiring me.
I hope your right ! I hope it is today. I need to know already. I can't think of nothing else it is terrible.
@BlueRose2622
I had already picked up speech and microbio for this 6 weeks I haven’t been able to do a single assignment. I will have to drop the courses and appeal later.
