BMCC NURSING PROGRAM FALL 2021

Published

Good evening Everyone,

I have a question and it seems like everyone on this forum responds much quicker than the school does so please respond if you know the answer to this.

I plan on applying to BMCC’s nursing program in Fall 2021, I’ve completing my prerequisites (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100, Chem 121) and have gotten an A or A- in all my classes and accumulated a 3.9 GPA. I just completed Eng 201(which is not a prerequisite) Summer session with a C-. I’ve taken Speech 100 & I’m taking BIO 425 and Psy240 this fall.

Based on what I was told by The nursing dept, they only look at your grades for the 4 prereq’s (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100 & BIO425) but I’m wondering if I should retake my ENG 201 class for a better grade.

Please note I’m in the process of reaching out to my English 201 professor to dispute my C- grade.
And I’m considering transferring to other nursing schools since BMCC’s process is lengthy.
Please share your thoughts, Thank you!

@ladyinwaiting

what part of it is a nightmare?
Can you explain ?  LOL I want to know details.
How has the experience been so far? Is it completely unorganized throughout the whole process?

This is exactly what you’re going to be getting throughout the entire semester. This has been my experience and perhaps not anyone else’s but I highly doubt it. Apparently a letter of complaint was sent to the president last semester but I have no idea which class wrote it or who and what the letter said. It was kept very confidential. I would have loved to know more. Basically everyone’s attitude is to ignore the nightmare, take the classes and get the RN license. I guess that’s the best attitude. Get all your ducks in order and prepare for a rocky road.

Ah. That’s disappointing. The program is hard period but having things messy makes things worse. Well all I can do is hope for the best. Hopefully I can actually get accepted. Thanks for your input.

Sure! And I’m sorry I can’t be more specific dot dot dot

That’s not scary at all ^^ but anyway, we shall see. Right now it’s this wait that is killer.

My friend who got into the Fall 2020 cohort (the one without the HESI) checked for me and she received her email on June 30th. Insane to me that it still took them so long, considering that cohort was only judged on their GPAs and nothing else. Like why can't she just have put that in excel and sorted by highest GPA lmao. But whatever...I just hope it happens by next week, but im not gonna hold my breath LOL.

Nothing still lmaaaooooo must be nice! Funny thing is that none of them are nurses today or been through a nursing job and they treat us like that. LOL. A lil covid and they want to stay home and not work while we trying to join the frontline. So Us! LOL

Yeah I can believe we still haven’t heard anything yet. It’s ridiculous. She’s taking her sweet *** time to let us know anything. I’m over it already. Makes no sense why it should take this long. You literally counting some dam numbers. It’s unfair.

My gf graduated from NYU and she’s been around for everything we have to go through in order to do this, my advice don't let a little debt hold you back from your dreams. Of course we are trying to do it through cuny, but if its not possible you can still get it done through a private school. Even with the monthly loan payments your salary will still be better than not getting it done. If nursing is what we want to do we shouldn’t let a little debt put fear in us. We got this.

I don’t even care about the debt. It’s the evening program for me. Not many programs provide the evening schedule. The ones that I found are very far or start at 4 pm. Which is not the evening I have 2 kids. I need to work. I couldn’t survive if I didn’t. So basically that’s the only reason why I choose BMCC. I’m not going to stress about it. Eventually we will find out.

At least I know what to expect moving forward if I get into the program.

Defined understand that, I've been working for nyph for 13 years now, they are very flexible with my schedule whatever I need they accommodate. I too have a 13 years old son, expensive rent, a car payment. Which is why I don't just focus on school but the debt still scared me a little being 31 years old old. It's not like I have a lot of time to be paying off debt, only debt I need right now is a mortgage LOL
