BMCC Fall 2011 Applicants - HESI A2

Published

Hello fellow BMCC nursing applicants,

Anyone applying for Fall 2011? They now require the HESI A2 (I believe the Spring '11 hopefuls didn't need HESI). Does anyone know what the percentages will be for prereq GPA/ overall GPA/ HESI score in determining the rankings?

I'm pretty worried now because I was hoping to boost up my overall GPA from 3.7 to above 3.8 this semester. But finals just passed, and I calculated my grades; I think my GPA is dropping to a ~3.63 because I might receive a C in my Microbio class. I'm considering emailing my professor and requesting some kind of administrative withdrawal instead of getting the C. If somehow I'm allowed the withdrawal, my GPA will become ~3.84. My prereq GPA is ~3.86 (2As, 2A-s).

BMCC is notorious for rejecting 3.8s, let alone 3.7s and lower. Should I rely on acing the HESI or should I contact my professor and hope I get the withdrawal? Or is there a possibility that a 3.7 this sem could get accepted?

hi I hope you did well on the exam today!!! How was it!!!! You managed it??

Hey Stole238,

I take the exam at 9 am. Don't think there will be chem related questions. I hear you, I'm exhausted and my head is spinning too.:uhoh3: lol. I don't think I can study anymore. For me it is what it is. I CAN'T possible learn anything new.

Of course I it doesn't help all the pressure we feel and put on ourselves to get into this program. Ugh.

That's good that you're taking MAT 104 now, as I'm sure it's fresh in your mind. I took it a semester or two ago and had to some refreshing, the same with a&p. I took a&p 1 & 2 over a year ago and had to do quite a bit of refreshing. I wonder how the people who took it today did. I probably won't be able to post what I thought of the exam until much later in the day, so I'm sorry I can't let you know sooner. :-(

i know you take yours in the afternoon so I'll be thinking about you. Maybe we can compare notes later. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

Ok took the HESI a2 earlier today ... and i must say it wasn't as hard as i expected it to be, maybe because i study 3-4 hrs for the last month and a half. Anyway let me inform you guys on how the exam is.. First only subjects we need to know are A&P 1 & 2 (questions are on both 1&2) Math, Reading Comp. and Critical Thinking.

1-A&P question range from simple questions to in depth questions. (i person was given and equal amount of both 30 questions)

2-Math questions was pretty simple just know your fractions (x,-,+,/) they also provide a basic calculator

3-Reading Comp. was moderate, find the main idea, defining words in the paragraph etc...

4-Critical Thinking was moderate also gives you scenarios and you must choose what is your first and best response towards the scenario..

Sorry I took so loong to post this up.. had to rush to work right after my exam.

Well I wish you guys all the best and don't stress it too much just relax, if you got to study day in and day out as i did you will do good guarantee
