Just curious. . .what are p&p for your facility when blood cultures are ordered for a pt with a port. . .are you drawing off the port?

Where I work, yes. We draw it from the port.

We take two sets, one from the port and one peripheral.

If a pt has a CV cath, with two lumens, we take four samples. An aerobic and anarobic sample from the venous port, and an aerobic and anarobic from the arterial port.
