Blackkout

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Well girls and guys what do you think about the Blackout of 2003 being blamed on Ohio. I have purposely avoided Jay Leno to keep clear of the jokes. Only in Ohio could we be responsible for all the light going out. Now I know why my eletric Bill is so high I supply the Northeast.:roll

I haven't been watching TV, so I didn't realize he was making jokes. Oh well I guess they are laughing at us not with us.LOL

I think it's ridiculous and highly irritating. I can't see how OHIO could be to blame for the entire northeast (practically) being without power.

I really don't care where it started as long as they fix the problem.

I was on a Lake in Michigan when the Blackout struck, we were without power in our cottage for 3-4 hours.

It wasn't that big of a deal as where I live in Ohio we lose our power many times during the year d/t strong winds, ice on power lines., etc..

I did feel bad for those who aren't used to losing their power, it's not fun.

I hope Ohio does investigate and improve the quality of serving their customers.

Gosh Renerian, I thought my little rural area was the only one, but I guess not.. sorry to hear you lose yours too !

Our power lines are above ground and I think that is the major problem at least that is what the guys on on our mile tell us !

We can lose our power for up to 6-12 hours at a time, usually in the winter but we have a gas fireplace so that keeps us warm at least. This summer we have lost our power 3-4 times already due to high winds and tornado warnings.

We have the Toledo Edison number on speedial:chuckle

Well my great black out story is that I got my first ticket ever in my whole life. Did not stop for a traffice signal. it was not a major intersection but a side street. Everyone in front of me went through it also, but guess who the policeman stopped. Poor me. and of all things I was on way to grocery store so my grandkids had something to eat, our power was out and was getting canned food for them. Bad enough this ticket will cost me $100. My two kids will never let me live this down!

Florence, you should try to fight that ticket, since the other cars went through.. and the light wasn't working right?

And the first ticket you've ever gotten, that's sad:o

Welcome to the Ohio site:)

Kue most of our lines are underground except we have these huge towers. Very huge but the tranformers are getting hit by lightning. Same thing for cable and phone.

I have trouble believing all the crap we are being fed about the black out. Also seems strange to me that it occured right on the heals of that computer virus that affected even some gov. stuff. But then again I am a bit of a conspiracy theory nut. Who knows maybe we ohioans really do have all the power.

What really worried me about the blackout was that ALL the fail safes failed...should have been a localized blackout...what happend to all the safeguards? Not just one company's problem..it is system wide...
