Hi everyone! I have a quick question for you! I keep trying to figure it out by myself but it's just not working.
Basically, I was on hiatus(making sure I actually wanted to be a nurse, I took a break to pursue something else), and have recently decided to get back into the pre-reqs. I've pretty much decided I want to redo everything, to get the best grades. This is leaving me at a conundrum.
I've taken AP 1, and Micro. I have a B+ in AP 1, and a B in Micro. I would like to apply for the program for Fall 2015, but I'm not sure how to go through this. This Fall, I was going to retake AP 1 with a different teacher, to prepare for AP 2. However, I'm wondering if I should just keep this grade, and take AP 2 with this different instructor without her AP 1. Either I do that, or I take her AP 1, and end up taking AP 2 with Micro(I don't like having a solid B - I'd like at least a B+) in the Spring.
Now, I didn't do all that great with AP 1 and Micro, but am wondering how those of you who have taken AP 2 with Micro have done? Keep in mind, I will also have a newborn as of December.
Any thoughts are appreciated! :)
Sorry to babble so mindlessly!

Are you allowed to repeat something in which you have a B+? Would the school allow that repeat? It would be good to get those answers before you do this. Also, ask the professor if she'd let you sit in on the class- that may be a good way to refresh your memory without actually being enrolled. You probably can't get into lab, but at least lecture would be enough of a review to jog your memory and let you see her teaching style well enough to do well in A&P2.
Yes, we are allowed to repeat things as much as we would like. I guess that's a "good" thing? Out here, all admittance is GPA based. Thank you for the ideas though!

Good day, illusion9376:
I'm currently taking AP2 with Microbiology alongside nutrition and life cycle development. It is doable -- I'm thankful to Jesus every day -- but, it is extremely hard. Only you know how well you learn and love sciences... and how much study time you will have with children around. Of note, if you didn't do well in AP1, then microbiology will be extremely hard to take alongside AP2.
Thank you.

I found that a lot of what we are learning Micro is piggybacking off of content we learned in A&P2. If you can, I would take them one after the other instead of in the same semester, especially with a baby at home. They are both very learning intensive.
I actually did aright in AP 1, I didn't do well with AP 1 and Micro during the same semester. That was way too much work, and the finals...more or less, I didn't study for because I was so burnt out.
That's what I'm thinking. I'm actually thinking of keeping my B+ in AP 1, and just retaking Micro and AP 2. I would be required to get an A in both of those classes, though. I've heard AP 2 is not quite as much material as AP 1(at my school, at least).

Dont waste your time and money retaking A&P 1. Just focus on taking A%P 2 which is much easier than A&P 1. having a B+ is a very good grade. Just focus on getting same or better grades in the future. As long as your science grades are B or better you stand a very good chance of getting into the nursing program of your choice.Good Luck!
Thank you for the advice! I decided that I would keep my AP 1 grade, however I also have a B in chemistry, so I'm going to retake Micro with a different instructor. I'm also retaking a lot of the other pre and co reqs.

I would double check the retake policies. Most colleges will let you retake F or W classes or science classes that need a "passing" grade which is around a C or C+. I was in the same boat. Got B's and I wanted to retake them and I wasn't allowed to because I received a passing grade. I would also like to say from experience. (I'm 36 and have been in and out if college for 13yrs) don't waste your time or $. If you have good grades such as yourself, keep them. It may not be an A but it's still a great grade. You can spend less and buy a refresher book for A&P II. Or look on quizlet. Maybe someone here has some good notes. Good luck. I hope you achieve your goals!

I wonder if it's because it's gpa based for admission(gpa gives you a certain number of points for each section).

I'm sure there is a retake policy somewhere. Pretty much every school has one. I would speak with a nursing advisor. See what it is exactly that you need to get in. I really wouldn't worry about a single B+. Do you have to take the HESI also?
