BIO 201 at Rio Salado

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey everyone,

Looking to see if anyone is currently enrolled in BIO 201 at Rio Salado. I am scheduled to start on 4/13 but was hoping to get a jump start on my studying. I have a crazy schedule because I work two jobs (one to pay for school and one to pay for my life), a husband and three kids. I need all the extra study time I can get!

Any study tips and general suggestions are welcome!

Thanks!

Hello--

I am re-taking bio 201--class starts on MOnday. I am very nervous retaking this class. I understood the material-had a 88% walking into the final but I ended up bombing the final. I will hate myself if I go though the next 16 weeks and fail again. I was wondering if anyone wanted to study together?

Thanks,

Jenny

Good God! I know how all of you feel! I took BIO 202 at Rio in the Fall of '07. It was sooo stressful! I've said in another thread here that is seems that the class was put together from so many different sources, and the material just didn't seem to go together. I had a tough time labeling the diagrams because I couldn't tell where the lines were pointing. I never hesitated to express my frustrations to the instructor. He was very helpful and just advised me not to stress over it.

I took BIO 201 online at PC, and it was soooo different. I would definitely recommend that if anyone doesn't pass Rio's BIO 202, retake it at PC.

Best of luck to all of you!!!

I just finished Rio's BIO 201 (took the final this past Saturday). I felt the final was much harder than the midterm....mostly nervous system stuff. The last half of the class was packed full of information (I felt a whole semester's worth just on the nervous system!!) Good luck to everyone just starting this class!! I'm taking the summer off to recharge and then I'm planning on taking BIO 202.

Tonyac- What did you end up with on BIO 202? How much more difficult than 201 at Rio?

Kimmerc- we must have been in the same class!! How did you do?

:twocents: My advice to all taking BIO 201 is study every day. I made a TON of flashcards, I brought them with me everywhere! I really think it helped.

:D

msiegel- I haven't gotten my grade yet for the 202 final. I'm scared. I studied a lot, but didn't feel too confident on the final! I took 201 at a community college and thought it was easier, I think anything online - especially a&p is going to be much harder! I'll let you know the grade once I get it... :uhoh21:

Hi, sorry for bumping this, but considering this was the first post that showed when i searched, i have a few questions here and there.

How accredited is this school? Would most colleges accept classes from here, or what colleges have any of you applied to that happily took this requirement? My local CCs' A&P courses are heavily impacted with a wait-list that may result in me waiting much longer than i planned, so i'm heavily considering the courses from this school and have yet to hear back from my counselors. I'm currently eye-ing OU, VCU, Creighton, ... for the acc. program.

Much thanks.

This school is accredited and part of the maricopa community colleges district. It will transfer to any school as well as apply to your BSN. You will have to find local proctor sites that i have heard can take four weeks to schedule test dates and you must take the mid term and final in person. Good luck!

Hey ladies - who was your professor for BIO? Can you PM? I am interested in knowing as I start next week!

THANKS!

I am about to take this final. How much time needs to be spent memorizing all the muscle origins and insertions?

I remember a lot of questions on the nervous system. I studied quite a bit. Good Luck! :wink2:

Anyone taken both BIO 156 and BIO 201 through Rio??? I was wondering how difficult 201 is in comparison to 156 because I thought I would take 201 in person until I saw that a lot of people have taken it through Rio and lived to tell about it. Or would those of you who have taken it through Rio recommend taking it in person??? I would appreciate any feedback!!

i took both of those classes online through phoenix college. i took my bio 202 through rio, and it was very frustrating. i've siad before in other posts, is seemed as if all of the material was put together through different sources, and didn't match up well. imho, i would go through pc online. i took micro at pc in person, and the instructor was great! it's been a few years, so i don't know if she's still there. good luck with your classes either way! :)
