Hey everyone,
Looking to see if anyone is currently enrolled in BIO 201 at Rio Salado. I am scheduled to start on 4/13 but was hoping to get a jump start on my studying. I have a crazy schedule because I work two jobs (one to pay for school and one to pay for my life), a husband and three kids. I need all the extra study time I can get!
Any study tips and general suggestions are welcome!
Thanks!
I am currently taking BIO156 at Rio, and am scared of the BIO201 &202 after reading these posts! I think I will go to PC after I finish one more semester. Can anyone PM me with which instructors to avoid or who is really good? I have an A in BIO156 now, but the midterm was pretty tough, I can see how the instructor grades essays can make or break your grade.
I am in BIO 201 right now and we just started - I just know it would be my last semester at RIO - I tried to get on at Phoenix College Online but RIO truly discourage it telling me I would had to pick up 6 credits w/RIO and plus my 4 with Phoenix College and I just cant take that kind of load so I ended up staying -next semester I would just tranfer to Phoenix -- but Good luck - RIO Final - make sure you know about the Sex Link Genes, DNA and semi-consertative info, Neurons, Insulin & Glucose those are the final essay questions -
Hi Dizzy Dee,
I had the same thing happen to me with my BIO202 instructor, I am sure we have the same one. I have taken several BIO courses at RIO and never had to cite the textbook as a source, so was dumbfounded when this happened. I am getting ready to take the final this week. How are you doing with the class now? I have never been so worried about a test as I am with this one!
Hello! I am so glad that I have found these threads as well! I have taken many, many classes at RIO and have never had any issues. However, I did take BIO156, 8 week acc. version and barely scraped by with a C. And then last summer I took BIO201 and luckily my instructor was awesome because the format is a JOKE. The final almost killed me and I studied my bum off. I have never been to happy with another C. lol.
Anyway, I still need to take BIO 202 and am thinking about taking it at Phoenix College after all of the positive comments on here about their format. I even still have the Rio BIO202 book that costs a fortune but I can't imagine going through that kind of format again and then hoping and praying that I pass the tests after studying and memorizing the many essay topics.
Can anyone PM me some names of good professors at Phoenix College?
Thanks!
CAC offers all of the courses Rio offers however they are in Pinal County so if you're not a resident you do pay a heftier rate for tuition. These courses (like Rio) are all offered online however you do need to take proctored exams @ sites (sometimes you can negotiate with a teacher to take them near you if you cannot make your way to the QC site or Apache Junction campus). The classes I've taken online are not bad and actually pretty well laid out, if you have any questions PM me and I can tell you some good teachers to take
I just signed up for BIO 202 at CAC. I was wondering what the class was like? How many tests are there, essays, quizzes, etc. ? Also, how demanding is the course overall? Any hints you could give me before I start? Thanks!
Thank you to the person who posted the berkeley webcasts. I am struggling with my BIO201 online at RIO right now. I have only watched a few minutes so far, but I am sure these will be just what I need to pass the class! (fyi.. for anyone having trouble viewing the webcasts, you need RealPlayer, which you can easily download for free)
THANKS AGAIN!!! :)
Has anyone recently taken Bio 201 online at Rio Salado? I am doing well but am nervous to take the upcomming midterm, wanted to see if anyone can advise me if there are any areas I should really concentrate on or what to expect on the multiple choice questions. There is so much information it makes it really hard to retain it all. I get a lot of the material but its so hard to know everything in a book that is so detailed!
Can anyone help, no real guidance from my instructor and I have been re-reading the chapters and going over notes and online lessons but there is just so much info to remember!
Thank you!!!
This school is accredited and part of the maricopa community colleges district. It will transfer to any school as well as apply to your BSN. You will have to find local proctor sites that i have heard can take four weeks to schedule test dates and you must take the mid term and final in person. Good luck!Hey ladies - who was your professor for BIO? Can you PM? I am interested in knowing as I start next week!
THANKS!
Butterly, can you PM me with some of the good professors for Bio 202? I start in 1 1/2 weeks!
