Anyone go through the Evening or weekend option? I'm not sure what these would entail??? When do you do your clinicals? Did you do it while working in a different field during the day? I need some advice.

I'm a grad of BHCC evening program back in 2002. They didnt have the weekend option when I was going to school . All of the classes clinicals if I recall started antime after 5pm. I was working full time in an administrative job.and I remember I had to rush to get to my clinicals at 5p..I'm not sure if its changed or not.
Going to school and working full time during the day was a grind...but doable. You have to disciplined to get all of the readings done. I remember scheduling my vacation days from work before midterms..finals ..so I can prepare.
My old job had a very generous tuition reimbursement plan..so they paid for most if not all of my nursing program.
Good luck

Hi 617 Mom,
I applied to the fall '08 semester as well. Good luck. We should hopefully find out our fate in another 6wks.

I graduated 2007 from the evening program.....the clinicals are in the evenings always and most people have a regular job during the mornings. All classes and clinicals start at 4pm. By the 3rd semester most people either cut down the hours they worked (including me) or change their jobs and got a CNA/PCA job. In general i like the program and the clinical sites are great. I don't know how hard it is to get in right now but i heard that there is a waiting lis..
does anyone know when BHCC sends its acceptance/rejection letters?
617MOM,
My guess is that we'll know around the end of this month, 1st week of May. I'm basing this on how long it took my other friends who are currently in the program to get their letters.
i just called BHCC to see when the acceptance/rejection letters go out, and they told me that the admissions board has not even met yet to review the applications. she said it would take 2 to 3 more weeks before we have an answer.
Hi 617MOM,
I just texted a former classmate who's also applying to let her know that we should find out in about 2-3 weeks. I know former students usually got their response about 2 weeks before the close of the semester.
That was so nice of you to keep me posted :wink2:. Are you applying to the day evening program or weekend program? Did you take statistics? If so who did you have?
hi blessed,
i took statistics in the CSDL (center for self-directed learning) at BHCC last semester. i am glad that i did it as a self paced class, although i did find it a difficult subject to learn. plus the statistics teacher in the CDSL does not speak english as his first language, so he's a little difficult to understand ... although i think he is perfectly adequate as a teacher.
i applied for the weekend program, followed by the day program. they told me i would double my odds if i applied to more than one program.
i am taking spanish this summer (web based class) at BHCC. i am taking everything that i can at BHCC that will transfer to UMASS just in case i don't get into the BHCC program.
i applied to Regis last year, but i did not get in, even with a 3.9 GPA. i got a 91 average on the TEAS, so i hope i get into BHCC.
good luck!
Hi 617Mom,
I know I'm going off the subject here, but not until I saw your user name did I realize that my birth-day (6th) and my daughters birth-day(17th) is equal to our area code "617"...LOL
Ok back to nursing. Looks like you have a great shot. Unfortunately GPA really doesn't come into play unless they have close candidates and trying to rule out one..it's really secondary information (so I'm told). Great TEAS scores! . I also applied to RCC. I'm going to take statistics either in the summer or fall, pending on the acceptance/rejection letter.
I'm also majoring in business concentration...I have 1 semester left for that, but will obviously put it on hold pending the outcome in a few weeks.
I applied to the day (1st choice); evening (2nd choice).
I'm sure you'll get in, but do you have a plan B? I'll definitely apply again over the summer for Jan '09, but I pray that's not necessary:bowingpur
my plan B is to go to UMASS, although i have no way to pay for it, and i can't take out anymore student loans. i am hoping to get scholarships if i go there.
i didn't get into Regis, even with a 3.9 GPA, so i'm not too optimistic about getting into BHCC either.
i know someone in the BHCC program now, and she told me that it really helps a lot if you are a minority, male, or an older student. i am a 30-ish white female, so i think the odds are against me for that reason alone.
