For those who have applied for the Fall 2007 semester - has anybody gotten a date for an interview yet?
Thanks
I think I got a 100, not the best of scores but I didnt even open a book for the test. So I was happy with the score since I have been out of HS for far too many years.
I agree, I would put the deposit in for any school accepted just to lock in a spot.
I really like how Nassau does there application process. You go to the dept with your transcripts fill out an application staple it together and put it in a box. You have 3 weeks to do this and then about a month later they mail out letters either in or not. if spots are opened up they will let people know last minute they are in.
I doubt I will be getting a call from Beth Israel but I am actually happy to have gotten in to Nassau. It was my first choice but didnt think I could get in so I started exploring other options and thats when I stumbled on Beth Israel and saw they had the ATOP program which would allow me to work full time at my desk job. I didnt want to have to quit work. But I believe I will still be able to go to Nassau Day and still work full time at my desk job!!
Shmitty3: My gpa is 3.32. I applied for the evening this time. When I first went to the info session they said that you need at least a gpa of 3.75 to get accepted into the night session. I applied for the fall 06 semester (day) and was rejected. I then find out that they offered a seat to a person with a slightly higher gpa into the evening program. This gpa was nowhere near 3.75. I was so upset - if I applied for the evening program I may have been accepted into the program.
I have now applied to 2 private schools and it looks like I will not be getting offers from them either. I give up - maybe it is not meant to be.

Tracy, don't give up.there's still a bunch of private schools in the NY area that you can apply to next year. I think Dorothea Hopfer is still accepting applicants for their evening progam which I believe begins in Janaury, they are in Westchester only 30 minutes away --a quick ride from the Throggs Neck. And if you're willing to relocate there are some upstate SUNY schools that have regular gpa requirements, and no waiting list!! Some may still be open. You still have a chance.

Hey nurse2btracy,
Definitely dont give up! You WILL get in somewhere- just keep applying. There are accelerated programs (I think Columbia U is one) that start in January so maybe you can apply to that school? Good luck!
Dont give up completely!
The key to Nassau is having all your non-nursing classes done. They do a ranking of credits earned x your gpa. so the more classes you have completed the better your chances are.
Do you have all the non nursing classes finished? how many classes do you have?
I would suggest possibly taking over some of your lower graded classes. Try and raise your C grades to an A. Take some summer classes get those grades up and then reapply for the Spring 2008 semester for the day. Or do not reapply until all your non nursing classes are done.
My friend applied for the night program for the fall and she did not get in. her GPA was a 3.6 and she only had micro left to take. I think that the fall has a larger application pool then the spring.
dont give up yet. did you apply to molloy or adelphi? what about NYIT?
Do you have your BA or BS already?
Where did you apply to for the fall? Did you hear back from the schools yet?

I was where all of you are one year ago. Nervewracking to the say the least.
Beth Israel sends out its letter the middle to end of May. For every student that declines their program, they call the next student on the waiting list for the interview. My colleagues and I established they were calling for interviews based on NLN scores.
When I declined Beth Israel's acceptance because I accepted another program, my friend was called for an interview the next day and he went to their program.
I would recommend paying the deposit for any other program that accepted you before Beth Israel sends you a letter or calls you -- it is better to have a spot in a program than to be in no program at all.
Good luck to all of you who are waiting.
