Beth Israel Nursing School NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone applied to Beth Israel NYC for this coming Fall? I applied there and I really want to get in. I always wanted to go. If anyone knows if it's hard to get in, or what score they are looking for on the NLN exam that would be rally helpful. And is it true that the only start giving interviews in May????

marbella, if you dont mind, could you tell me how long you get call after you receive your test result? can you negotiate the time of interview?

@Judy - I took the test at BI on March 15th, got my scores the first week of April (I am pretty sure - the letter is postmarked March 30th ) and "angel" called me yesterday to set up the interview.

I scored a composite 137 and a 95% - I also turned my package application the first week of March.

Hope this helps -- What is your situation?

Also, Jayzelena, have you already been called for an interview?

& Starlette, congratulations to you too :yeah::yeah:-- Did they tell when you can expect to hear a decision after the interview?

I'll let you ladies know how mine goes on Monday--

-Marbella

@Judy -- About the time of the interview. It seemed, when I talked to her, that she had couple of days available -- Not sure about the time, because I said yes to the first time she suggested--

No I haven't received a call yet. It seems that people who score in the 95th percentile or above as you and Starlette did get called first. At least that's the impression I got from old threads. I scored a 127 and what ranked in the 88th percentile. I'm trying to stay positive but the waiting is making it hard.

Kuklara, I finally got in touch with MG today. She pretty much told me the same thing as she told you. She said decisions will be made after May 1st so it's more waiting. :uhoh3:

@Jayzelena -- I am sure you will get a call soon -- As I was reading last year's posts, it seems that the process may take as long as four months ... --Some people last year got calls in June and July --- I read someone got in in August. -- It seems the hardest part of the process is the waiting...thank God for this Board thou--

It seemed the Board kept sane a lot of them  -- It's still very early...

Marbella

thx marbella, i took the test at BI on March 29, got my score April 9,I scored a composite 142 and a 97% . i wonder when will them give me a call or just send a email or whatewer, anxious.......

97% is a very high score :yeah:

I won't imagine they taking much longer until they call you--

marbella, Good luck on your interview! goood luck to everyone............

@marbella - Good luck on ur interview!!! =) I just had my 2nd one on Wed and she said to call in 2 wks bc she didnt have the next Admissions Committee date. I emailed MG on Thurs and she didnt have the date yet...so it is still a waiting game

@judy - which program are you applying for? if ur GPA and everything else is good i dont think you have to worry about not getting a call with that NLN score! you could try emailing MG if she doesnt answer. it's difficult to get in touch with the admissions dept. lol.

i have a feeling that there isn't another admissions committee until after the may 1st deadline...

@starlette, thx, i am applying ...to the Day Program, i will wait at least 2 weeks if i do not get any call, i will get in touch with mg or email to the dean assistant...:redpinkhe

Hi,

I did my interview and I definitely agree with other posters regarding the quality of this school. What a wonderful and caring group of people they are! -- As I arrived to the school, I was greeted by "angel", which I was very happy to meet personally after talking to her on the phone a few times. She is even sweeter in person. Then I was introduced to my interviewer, wich again, immediately put me at ease and it felt more like a conversation, than an interview. The questions, she said, were intended to get to know the applicants better and to decide if it is a good fit between the school and the applicant. The one thing that I gathered after talking to her was their incompromising strive for excellence.

After my interview, "angel" gave me a tour of the school. They are in final's week, so there were not a lot of students around, but the ones I encountered were very amicable --- Overall, a very positive experience.

I hope I get accepted, because, just like other posters said, I don't want to go to any other school.

What you can expect to be asked: why you want to be a nurse, what does a nurse do, what are your strenghs and your weakness, what prompted you to become a nurse,..etc. -- Advise: Present yourself neatly and well groomed (that goes without saying), be well prepared ( do your research about the school and the nursing profession), and just relax and be positive.

To those of you still waiting, be patient. They are still in the process of reviewing and interviewing. It seems that the commitee will meet again in May 10th, so I imagine they will still be interviewing a few more weeks.

Good luck to all!!

thx marbella, i got a call from mg on Monday regarding my interview time, i could not make it on the day she mentioned. So i have to wait untile to 3rd of May. the time is not scheduled yet. i missed a call from her on Tuesday. i thought she is want to talk with me about the time. I will call her next week.
