Beth Israel Nursing School NYC

Published

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone applied to Beth Israel NYC for this coming Fall? I applied there and I really want to get in. I always wanted to go. If anyone knows if it's hard to get in, or what score they are looking for on the NLN exam that would be rally helpful. And is it true that the only start giving interviews in May????

I did volunteer work and received good exposure. basically taking care of an older woman. so you are in the 2nd semester of the first year correct? so you do all day saturday. what are the hours thurday and friday. My job is so crazy i think i am expected to be there until late. I am nervous about this. I will try to come in early and do all my work so i can make it to school on time.

Thursday we are in school from 3-8. Friday, the first semester, you won't have to come in but the second semester you go from 8am to about 12. Saturday is clinical. First semester you have clinical and then lab so you're only on the floor from 8 to 11:30, break for lunch, and then have lab from 1-4. Second semester you're on the floor from 8-1, break for lunch and then have post conference. We usually get out by 3.

Does your job know that you are planning on attending nursing school? The school is great but they will not let you skip classes unless it's an emergency so be careful not to miss. Plus, if you do miss you will kind of be lost. Lecture is 5 hours, that's alot of material to cover on your own. Also, there are no make-up labs so if you happen to not be able to make it that day you miss it, that's it.

I love my job but if i get in to the school, school comes first. i do think they will be very understanding tho-and i will work hard to learn my job now so in the fall i know i how to do it faster. so basically-first year is thursday @ 3pm and Friday second semester 8am-12 pm? I am just concerned in the time i will be missing from work right now! lol. So I dont have to take off Friday! or Thurday it seems!

for the Atop Ethics needs to be completed. Where did you take it? Also, did you take it affter admitted or before applying?

Did you have any of the prereqs not completed while applying ? or when you got accepted had all your prereqs been completed?

Another question-Did you take nutrition at the school or before? I am thinking of taking it before.

I reallllly appreciate all your help! you desrve to be there learning other ways to help individuals. maybe we meet if i get in!

i was just scared because MG wrote that Friday's schedule is 8-8. But you said that perhaps I can change into the evening program my second year. correct?

I don't know how any other programs run but we aren't in school from 8-8 until the second year. The first year is just like I said unless they are planning on changing a few things. For us this semester fridays only lasted until March 11th o you could start working on fridays after that. Like I said, there are a lot of people in the program that work and they manage to do it. You'll be fine. I don't think your employer will give you a problem.

As far as courses go, I didn't have microbiology, ethics or nutrition when I applied. During the interview the Dean advised me to take microbiology because it is a very hard course and it runs along with Mental health nursing so it would benefit to take it if you have not done so. I would also recommend you take ethics and nutrition before coming in. I took ethics at FingerLakes Community College. It was an online course, very easy. Had to write a paper every week and the final was open book. I'm currently taking nutrition now and I wish I would've taken it before starting the program. I'll PM you why.

I think you should take nutrition before. I don't care for the professor and the assignments don't make any sense so if you can take it before you get in go for it.

Hi guys, sooo glad I found this thread :yeah:

I've got an interview with PBI next Tuesday, nervous as :uhoh3: lol

But can anyone tell me any tips for this interview? Is it possible that someone gets an interview but doesn't get accepted?!

I'm being so paranoid now cause I've been on their waiting list for almost 2 yrs. So I'm kinda skeptical. Has anyone been in this situation before regarding PBI?
