Beth Israel Nursing School NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone applied to Beth Israel NYC for this coming Fall? I applied there and I really want to get in. I always wanted to go. If anyone knows if it's hard to get in, or what score they are looking for on the NLN exam that would be rally helpful. And is it true that the only start giving interviews in May????

Marbella,

If you got the tour of the school, you are as good as in - that was from my experience last year. I am glad that the student body made a good impression considering it was finals week! LOL...Honestly, the faculty and student body is great.

i did my interview today, they are all nice ladies. they asked some questions about what you think the role of a nurse. and the ever famous what are your strengths and weaknesses question. but they seriously are the nicest ladies, they made you feel totally comfortable. she gave me her card and said to email her after 11 of may to know the outcome results of the admissions committee . she wanted to know what subjects hard and basically explained what transfers and what doesn’t and how the program is laid out.

btw, i have to wait one more week to know the result.

good luck to all…

Hi All! Thought I'd jump in on the PBI bandwagon! Congrats to everyone who got their interviews/acceptances. My interview is this Thursday and I'm very antsy! I've been reading all these posts pretty obsessively, lol! I used to think that an interview meant you were all but accepted, but it sounds like it can be very easy to be waitlisted or rejected even after an interview. Be still my beating heart!

judy and marbella, did either of you hear back yet?

To those of you who have experience or have received scholarships and grants in this school...what were ur credentials? was it base don prior GPAs and stuff? just wondering because I would appreciate some help paying for school. Also a 99 percentile is excellent right? then you guys should feel very proud. did you get in?

Did anyone get into Beth israel with a GPA of about 2.6 in their previous college degree..BA or BS. thanks?

is the exam divided into 3 sections? hw long is each section? how many questions in each section? Does the exam have a calculator or is everything mental math?

Hi aspiring_nursing. I'm currently an ATOP student at BI. I can't really tell you much about the GPA thing cause I really don't know. I know they look at your whole application and determine if you are a good candidate based on everything in your application and not just grades. If you score well on the NLN exam (95th-99th percentile) you get called first. I scored in the 88th/89th percentile.

I would recommend that you definitely apply for whatever scholarships are offered. Tuition is high and you're gonna need lots of books and programs for your PDA. Speaking of books the NLN review book (3rd edition) really helped me when it came to timing myself for the test.

The test consists of 80 verbal, 60 math and 80 science questions. I was able to finish all the sections in time but don't spend too much time on any one questions. It will screw you up.

Good luck in your studies!

hi!!! i got the same score on nln as you? I was just wondering if you got accepted wit it? please answer

paramount and jayzelena-

hello again i took the nln and after taking it i dont feel like i got a 100 average but feel like i would have scored a 75 % if it were scored like any other test is regularly scored. since u got in the 89th percentile or higher did you guys feel like u knew about 90 percent on the questions? i just got that although i feel i got a 75% overall-that i get a high percentile. so basically i want to know ur experience with the exam. if u did better than u thought basically. i took test 23rd of march-just wondering what my grade is now. thanks

so I got my score for this year. where do i look at the very top under AD? The composite percentile score is the # that i am looking at. i got in the 90s. then there is a composite score right under my name.. its higher than 115. which one does the school look at? my science percentile score i do not like.

I don't think they look at your individual scores for each section. I believe they look at your composite score and where your composite score ranks (89th percentile, 90th percentile, etc). Like I said earlier, those who fall in the 95th percentile or higher get called first.

I felt like I did alright on the test. It was a really hard test for me, especially the vocabulary part. I left feeling good about it and as days went on I felt worse and worse about it, lol.

I actually received a rejection letter from them last year and just out of curiosity called them to find out where my application was lacking. Apparently they sent it to me by mistake and scheduled my interview on the spot. Maybe it had something to do with me calling them. Maybe they wanted to see who really wanted to get in. It was the best decision of my life though. I'm sure they will call you. :)
