Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone applied to Beth Israel NYC for this coming Fall? I applied there and I really want to get in. I always wanted to go. If anyone knows if it's hard to get in, or what score they are looking for on the NLN exam that would be rally helpful. And is it true that the only start giving interviews in May????
oh these committee meetings get me nervous.. ! Anyone else get a call or just waiting.. ?? So l just want to think positively about the whole situation and really get my mind out of the "I am waiting for a call" state of mind.
My question to you all, just to distract us a bit, Once we are in nursing school do you know or better yet what area would you like to specialize in and why?
Villa
Hey Villa,
What a good idea!
I would like to work in women's health and/or midwifery. This is because my whole background is in women's sexual and reproductive health; I worked in Vietnam for 2 years for an NGO for vulnerable women and children, worked here in NYC at the UN in the Gender & HIV/AIDS department, and currently work with women living with HIV/AIDS. This area has always just meant alot for me, and I feel it is a very important area, so ultimately I would like to do a women's health and midwifery master's and focus on that, but who knows...IF I get in maybe I will end up loving psychiatry...life can be strange!
What about you?!
Lily
Cool Lily! Anything to entertain the mind! I think that is awesome, I too would really love to do something in women's health and/or midwifery, but I would also love to work with the adolescent population. This is something dear and near to my heart. My experience is mainly working in the area of cancer (colorectal cancer and breast/cervical) as well as some diabetes, mainly in the minority population. But before this I was a youth counselor at church for about 5 years, and I really loved working with them, with all their ups and downs, hormones and everything else that comes with that.lol! But like you said, you just never know, my hubby is a pediatrician, so maybe I might like something there.. but we shall see! And Lily don't worry, I know you will get in! =)

I've been following this thread from the beginning and remembering each of you girls in my prayers. May I ask how many applicants that they have for all of the programs and how many total that they accept into the programs? It seems to me that all of you are highly qualified and I can't imagine all of you not getting into BI.
Bless you all as you continue to wait on their decisions.
Triple As, that must be hard to swallow after all this waiting, but at least it not a no, and I am sure they are very seriously considering you if they called you back. I still cannot get through! Its driving me nuts, I have friends from Europe here, and I don't even want to leave the house so I can check the laptop!
Villa....Thanks for the confidence, I am sure you will get in....have you heard?!
Lily
Triple A'sThe fact that they are having you back I think is very positive. I know you must be exhausted by this whole process but i know you are determined so just have patience.Maybe they are considering you for a different program for which did you apply?
Thanks BabieRN1106, I hope you are right. The wait is absolutely nerve rattling, but I will take your advice on being patient and hope for the best.
