After I pass my nclex i was thinking of relocating to a new place. I was wondering which states i should look into for good LPN opportunities and which states are NOT so great for LPN's... i wanna know how much was your starting and from what state...
currently reside in jersey...
Connecticut LPN jobs are mostly in LTC. I love LTC actually. I am an LPN with four years experience currently working full time at $30.15 per hour plus medical benefits. This is in Fairfield County.
I would say at any given nursing home in Fairfield County, in LTC, the average hourly pay is $25.
However, the cost of living is very high. In a nice town, with good schools, you are looking at about 300k for a small house on a small plot of land.

Connecticut seems nice honey, I'm looking to relocate from Michigan after a while, would you mind PM me the nursing home where you work? Do they offer shift dift? I rather live in an apartment or a townhome. I can't do houses unless I'm married. (wink) lol
I live in CT..i think the job market is kinda opening up i think/.... 2010 -2011 it was pretty bad but lately it has gotten way better... the trick these days is to have a good resume..even if u do not have that much experience, make it look professional and complete..when applying u have to call and call and call..people wanna see nurses that seem that they really want to work for that particular place..mostly nursing homes i hate to say is majority of work, but i got interviewed with red cross so it depend where u r searching for jobs i guess..also employers are using online apps way more..hope this helps a little..

Nikki- thanks for helping my situation seem a little less helpless. Im a recent grad, passed boards, and had the highest gpa in my lpn class. I have little experience but i am very motivated to find a job. Im hoping that with hard work, i can find something. I just went to my school and they helped me with a cover letter and resume so i hope it looks professional enough. Ill let you all know how the job hunt goes! Im open to any advice!!!
Do u know of anywhere in fairfield county where a new grad lpn would have a better chance getting hired? I prefer ltc & think its the best way for a new lpn to get the needed experience those first few years after graduation. Lol if u can take care of 30 patients, u can do anything! Any advice would truly be appreciated!!!!! Thank u ; )
thanks for replying!! Im waiting to hear back from several home health agencies now. i'm hoping i can find something in LTC by doing walk-ins, looking professional, and talking with someone while dropping off my resume. Because other than that, everyone i've spoken with requires that precious "6mths-1yr" experience. I'm sooo anxious to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bethinct- I wanted to say thank u for responding to my post!! I tried to PM u back but cant yet. I did want to let u know that i will definately be looking into all 3 of the places u mentioned. I am truly grateful u took the time to get back to me! Im sure as a former "new" nurse, u understand what I'm going through. : ) How did u finally get hired? Walk in and apply? Or online? Lots of luck to u in Florida!!!

I'm in Central NJ and 75% of LPN positions are in long term care:bluecry1:. The rest is either in offices, home care agencies/Hospice or clinics in the hospital. I work 3 days in LTC and 2 days in an inpatient hospice unit in the hospital but not "part of the hospital".
