What tennis shoes do you guys find the most comfortable? Obviously I will be getting a good pair of insoles, but what are the most comfortable shoes that you have found for 12hr shifts? And where do you get your inserts form?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've used Nike's in the past that were comfortable but I want a pair so that I can have another pair to switch off with.
Clogs are not allowed, and it has to be a tennis shoe, which is why I am trying to get more there!
Thank you!i

I wore New Balance running shoes when I worked the floor. The brand fits me like it was made for me, and they have a wide variety of styles and colors. They're also light, which is great when you're dragging yourself through your 12 hours and thinking you can't possibly take another step.
Unlike most, I had to wear custom orthotics because of my flat feet, but the average person can go to the Dr. Scholl's display at Target or Wal-Mart and find good ones for different foot conditions.

I have had custom orthotics because of flat feet in the past (and really should get a new pair...but that's another story).
I wear clogs some days at work (Dansko XP line), but more commonly I have been wearing the Sketchers MemoryFoam (I think) line. It's kind of like walking on a cloud. Really awesome actually. Lot of cushion but they are super light (aka the opposite of my Danskos). I worked 12 hours one day this week (generally work 10 hour days) and that wasn't too bad in those shoes.

Asics Gel walking or running shoes. Light weight, breathable, comfy. Been wearing them for years and love them.

S'funny how different people are; I have NEVER found a pair of New Balance that fit me right, as the shank and the arch area never are where my feet need them to be. I like Easy Spirits with an arch support added and sometimes add a second smaller adhesive arch support stuck on top of the full-foot insert. (really flat feet!)

I wonder why clogs aren't allowed? I would die without my Danskos.

The best athletic shoes are the ones that fit YOUR feet the best. The only way to figure that out is to go to a brick and mortar store and try some on. Go to a good store -- not Footlocker or the ilk -- and get your feet measured and your gait analyzed. Then let a professional fit you for the shoes that are best for YOU.
If you're using your real name as a user name -- and it appears that you are -- don't. It's a really bad idea. The trend on allnurses is to be anonymous, and for good reasons. One day you will write something to which someone inexplicably (or maybe not so inexplicably) takes offense, something that is ill-stated, ill thought-through or ill mannered. Or you'll ask a stupid question, post a controversial opinion or use language that has to be ****'d. When that happens, you won't want to be so easily identified that someone can print out your post, shove it under your manager's door and subject you to possible disciplinary action.
