Saunders is what has been most often recommended to me. But a classmate told me that she and 5 friends each bought a different NCLEX book, then made 5 copies of the appropriate chapters that they were studying in lectures, and traded with classmates. That way, each person ended up with 6 different NCLEX study books by the end of the 24-month RN program. An interesting strategy.
I was reccomened the Saunder's Comprehensive Review (detailed review and questions inside) as well. I order version 4 and version 5 and they are practically the same thing. I opened version 5 from the plastic so I cannot return it otherwise I would. Version 4 cost me about 15 and version 5 cost me about 50. They are practically the same... I also bought: Exam Cram NCLEX-RN 3rd ed. (quick review and questions), Lippincott's Q&A NCLEX-RN (just questions), and Mosby's RN Examination (just questions).
I bought Saunders but I use the CD-ROM way more than I use the book. The girls in my clinical group and I all swap out our NCLEX CDs so we have lots of review questions. I have a copy of 6 different NCLEX CDs on my harddrive now and I think Saunders is the best, because they list test-taking strategy and the rationales for each question.
I think posts like these are responsible for my veritable "collection" of NCLEX type books. I think I own about 10 and I haven't even started my third semester yet. Anyway, I own all of the favs and, although I have not taken the NCLEX yet, my exams are "NCLEX style." I have found Saunders and "Reviews & Rationales" (Hogan) to be the best.
PREP-U is the most amazing NCLEX prep!
My school just dumped using the Saunders and went to PREP-U.
I highly suggest this. It has been a great tool for tests and preparing for the NCLEX.
It is worth every penny!

Im looking for a good review book to help me study for tests while also preparing me for NCLEX. I hear really good things about Saunders and the Mary Ann Hogan books. In my program we were required to purchase the Davis review book..I have maybe opened it once, I just haven't heard much about it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
