Best resource for content; best for questions??

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I had an earlier thread about my gf failing her nclex rn. She did Kaplan content review, classes, and tons of questions from the qbank. We are outting together a "restudy plan" to make sure she can pass this time. We realize how important questions are, but we feel that some content review is in order, as well. What would you guys recommend strictly for content review? Suanders? Also, for the questions, I have heard Saunders is too easy, so what would you recommend? Keeping mind that she did most if not all of the Kaplan question bank, and that obviously didnt help her the first time around. In summary, best resource to use for studying, and best source to use for questions. Thanks guys, shes anxious to right this wrong!

What one person thinks is a good resource may not be what a second person finds to work best for them. NCLEX study review books can be found in the nursing section of the major bookstores and can be looked at before purchasing (from a cheaper source).

this is true, but there usually seems to be a tried and true favorite that has been time tested. Just wondering if someone could shed some light on this. Her school just promoted Kaplan, but if plan A didnt work, we have to move onto plan b; problem is, we dont know much about anything else but Kaplan

For content review, i would definitely say Saunders and she can also try this book called Prioritization, Delegagion and Assignment by Linda A. LaCharity second edition. Virtual ATI is another option, it covers content. Good Luck

Thanks so much; I think shes gonna lean toward Saunders for content review. Now, how about questions; she did almost the entire q bank for Kaplan, and Im guessing it wont be helpful to re-do those. What would you guys recommend for questions, as I realize this is probably the single most important thing to do for studying

Saunders comes with a cd of questions as well as questions in the book, alternatively there is learningext.com run by the people who look after NCLEX (NCSBN)

Definitely the LaCharity book for the Prioritization stuff. The questions in there were at NCLEX level for sure.

If the Saunders CD isn't enough, there's always the box of question cards they sell as well - they've got the up side of being portable, meaning they can be done in the car and whatever.

I also found Billings wasn't that bad for Q&A reviews - she writes the Lippincott Q&A review, which helped me and may also be useful. It's also got a CD question bank, too.

nclex4000 is also good.

Lacharity for questions, Saunders for content. passed with 75!
