Best Phoenix Hospitals to Work For?

Hello! I am moving to Glendale in 3 weeks and need to start job hunting. I noticed a thread from 2006 about Phoenix hospitals but none recently, so it's time to start a new one! I have about 2 years of nursing experience and enjoy working in the Emergency Department. Anywhere in the Phoenix area will work! I would like to find a hospital that has good employee satisfaction and retention and possibly even offers tuition assistance. Any advice (or hospitals to stay away from)?

Thanks!! :)

I just graduated and am not working yet, but from what I hear and have experienced during clinicals, the Dignity Health hospitals, Mayo, Banner, Scottsdale Healthcare and Phoenix Children's seem to have the strongest reputations. Mayo seems to offer some of the highest wages. I really loved St. Joes (a Dignity Health hospital). The staff was very friendly and interested in helping the student nurses learn. Since it is a teaching hospital, I think that has been ingrained in their culture.

Thanks for the response! From the research that I've done, it does seem like St. Josephs is a great workplace, and has some pretty good benefits.

I love Phoenix Children's Hospital. The pay is decent, the ED is expanding ,benefits are great ( especially if you have children), and they offer up to 5500 in tuition reimbursement super easy qualifications.

@mmtorrez89 I have been looking at their job postings but haven't seen any ED jobs yet. When are they supposed to be expanding?

What kind of benefits (if you have children) do they have? I'm just starting nursing school soon but I would love to work for Phoenix Children's someday and I have four kids so I am curious! :)

There are currently two ED nursing job posting available. Have you looked recently?

+1 for Dignity Health as my brother in-law and a pal he went to school with works there. I will have to ask what his benefits are like though. I had my appendix taken out over the Christmas holiday, and had a chance to chat with the nurses who were in and out while I was there. I heard good things from them and they seemed really happy with work conditions and such.

Hi Ziggy,

I too am looking at the job market in the Phoenix area, but am not likely to move there for another 9 months or so. I don't know what the wages are for someone of my experience (20 years of hospital nursing, in many specialties, last 4 years in ED). Banner only has applications online (not sure how long they keep the application for), and I have not tried any other facilities yet. I wish you luck in your journey to find a job in the Glendale area.

Scottsdale Osborn is a great company to work for. Wages and benefits are satisfactory. It is a level one trauma center and also a magnet facility if that's important to you.
