I am a new grad. I have a list of states that I am considering going to, but I need to find out what the salary ranges are especially for a new grad. I have Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Georgia, California and Nevada on my mind so far. Is there somewhere that ranks states according to salary for nursing and standard of living. I would like to do a comparison.

cost of living in Hawaii far surpasses the pay...try elsewhere first.
Travel to Hawaii and make extra money? I think not! The cost of living is so high there that you will soon find out that the income pays for your living expenses, and not much more. Food, gas, and everything else are very expensive. Color me...been there, done that!
Its really expensive in HI im married to a Filipino born in HI and im considering working somewhere Utah or Arizona so its true but people over there have LOTS OF ALOHA :wink2:
You have to take into account the cost of living when you review the salary ranges for new grads.
Hawaii has a very high COL, as does NY.
If you are used to a high COL then the regions that have high COL's won't phase you.
If not, prepare to be blown out of the water.
Travel agencies do not hire new grads (thank God) so that option is totally non-viable.
Advice? Look for a place where you are going to get a good solid new grad orientation and where you will be able to learn and develop your skills and knowledge.
The rest will come in time.
Yes, I am in Florida too. I came here despite being warned about the low wages. A friend had bugged me for years to visit her in Florida but I had no desire to do so. However, I thought well it's just for a vacation so no big deal. I fell in love with Florida while on vacation. I hate the low wages but I really do love living in Florida so here I am.
I love all the bugs, alligators, green trees and crazy people here. I wish you the best of luck in Texas.
