Hello mates!
I was just wondering what helped you to pass nclex?
I am an extreme visual learner and for now im using uworld, saunders nclex-rn book and prioritization delegation and assignment. But i really want to invest in a prep course again because i believe i need a little coaching and be able to clarify doubts etc. So any good prep course that you guys recommend? Oh.. And kaplan did not work for me im not sure why.

Hurst seems to be good for content. I know several people use Uworld for questions/ content and they are in-depth with their rationales.

uWorld for board-style questions and well-written rationales.

It might be the user. My spill: even before I finished my nursing school, I vowed to myself that I will pass the board with one take which I did.
I did use Kaplan and Hurst at the same time. But the latter wasn't for me. The way I see it, basically these classes or courses are simply your guidance and at that time, I already knew that I still had to do most of the work. I read a lot and did lots of practice questions. Also, I was using four different types of NCLEX Prep books and had read the Kaplan Book from front to back four times! Yup, you read that right, 4 times. But of all the books I used, I had this one favorite and it was called NCLEX-RN Questions & Answers Made Incredibly Easy. This was so easy that the rationales were right next to the question and I didn't have to flip the pages back and forth to go the the "rationale page" which saved me a whole lot of time and all I have to do is cover one side of the book so I don't see the right answers.
I actually think I somehow owe my passing because of this book. But I prepared and studied hard and did it all in 30 days because I was "determined" and the good thing was, working hard and harder was my comfort zone.
The way I see it, you don't have to be an A student to pass the board. "For me", NCLEX is simply examining, well, besides your knowledge, it is also determining how strong your analyzing and critical thinking skills are. I had this question that really threw me off, although all NCLEX questions threw me off, but anyway, this question was so different. I think we're not allowed to be specific so I'll just give you my "own" example, one of the questions may ask you something about... how to properly apply a freaking diaper on a pt. or how to manually check a BP and your options might be a step by step as how you'd apply the cuff on your pt so then do you: A. pump the air once the cuff is applied. B. Do you ask the pt. to have their arm on the level of their heart. C. Have them standing as you take the BP. D. Where and when do you place your Stets. I had one of those questions and thought if that was one of their pilot questions. Again, that wasn't the specific one I got. But be prepared!
Anyhow, a full time job, your children, your family, and/or a significant other can play a big factor; and if you're single, "your determination". My question to you now then is: How much time and effort do you really put in when you're doing your reviews and if you know your obstacles by now, can they be eliminated temporarily?
So to answer your question re: the "best NCLEX-RN prep course", my answer to that is simply you and yourself alone!
I wish you the best!
