I was just accepted into Bergenn CC's Nursing Day program for Fall 07. I was just wondering about a few things, so anybody that has been or is currently in their program your help would be greatly appreciated.
So I know there is an orientation late August, but I would like to find out some things sooner. Besides the Criminal Background check, is there definitely a drug screening? Is that needed to register for classes as well or is that done later on?
Also, what types of materials did you need to purchase? Does the program allow PDA's and if so did you use them often?
PDA's are allowed, in some hospitals, you can even get their latest drug updates, but you can do fine without the PDA. The drug book, lab book and hospital computer covers just about everything. It would be nice, if you were leaning to carrying a PDA, to test it out while in school to see how you like it. If you have a well setup PDA, you will be carrying a library of info in your pocket. Good to hear that they allow PDAs...but only some of the hospitals? Could you tell us which hospitals BCC's program is affiliated with? Is everybody assigned or can you choose?
Has anybody been able to download the Nursing Handbook yet? It looks like they're working on the course outlines and everything...I'm just making sure I'm not typing the wrong password or something.
Also, how far along are you in getting everything done?
Nope, no handbook yet. I see they have done one outline, for 183.
Well, I think I have almost everything done, just waiting for my uniforms which had to be altered, and I have to send in a money order to M&M for the supplies kit.

Not very far haha...I still have to make a trip to the uniform store, get my results for my immunizations and everything and hand that to health services, get the insurance, order the supply kit along with a stethoscope, and still need to order the rest of my books...oh and I'm taking the CPR class at the school the day of the 21st and 22nd...Yea, I'm already slacking lol...Nah, but really jus been busy with alot of things trying to make the best out of the Summer...but gonna get a move on already, would like to get everything out of the way already! haha.
k so i just read the outlines and the handbook andddd.... IM FREAKING OUT i hope you guys are too... lol i still have to get my uniforms hand in a copy of my cpr card and my malpractice insurance AND get my books. the countdown has begun people 30 days from today!! its just around the cornerrrrrrr.....
All I have left is to send in a money order for my supplies kit. It would be so much easier if they took a check - but they only want a money order or cashiers check. I just haven't had the time to stop and get a money order.
ALso, still waiting for my uniforms that had to be altered. But, I have my malpractice insurnace certificate. I have to make a copy and bring it to school - maybe I'll drop that off today.
I just went to the uniform store today...no alteration was needed, I bought the coat and the watch they carried...They said they're expecting the shipment for Bergen within the next couple weeks. Held off on the stethoscope and supplies though, probly order them online.
But yea, still have to do everything else and order the rest of my books although I would like to get a PDA, so might order some programs instead of the books. Can't believe how fast the summer is going by now
