Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

as days get closer and closer it gets so frustrating and anxious. Definately allot more stressfull. After I found out it was around 2500 people, I started to worry like crazy!

Are you sure that it was 2500? There could have been 2500 applicants, but not every candidate can sit for the test- Criminal background checks, not meeting requirements...etc.

Also, they usually include those who took the Hesi for other programs.

Hello Everyone! Inhale....exhale....inhale...exhale...=) Try not to stress yourself too much.... I know it's tough but we have to be strong...stay positive!!!

@ jschroder, I believe you're right about the student registered for all 3 classes. I'm sure he or she is a repeat. If not, I'm guessing that person got a 98 or a 99 on the hesi and has the advantage of priority registration...i'm guessing =) hehe.

I'm trying to stay calm...even though I'm on this site...24/7...lol =P

GOOD LUCK TO US....AMEN!!!

Don't stress! I think that is due to people failing level one and having to repeat the course.

Breathe!!!!!!

or someone that postponed starting. I don't think you can fail 3 classes and comeback...but i could be wrong.

waaaaa !!!!! is what best describes what i am feeling right now....omg good luck guys... im going crazzzyyyyyy waiting for an answer.

I spoke to elsa on Wednesday and she said probably 2 weeks.

Wow! More hopeful Bergen nursing students. Welcome! I think we are all on edge. I am sitting here studying; with a glass of wine, trying to keep my mind off of it.

Question, How many RN candidates currently go to Bergen?

wow me too glass of wine on one hand and typing a paper for dev. psy lol i go to bergen

haha! Who do you have for Developmental psych? I have Dr. Paolucci-AMAZING professor. Probably one of my favorites at Bergen. How did you fair on the Hesi? You don't have to divulge your grade, just curious if you are confident or crazed like me! lol

i have Dr Yankowski he is very good. Im doing well in all my classes I wish GPA was a factor on the decision making. I am above average and average is 79 but I am shaking and praying everyday because there are so many applicants. ohhhh I am dying. I think im gonna go to applebee's for some frozen margaritas.. Happy hour... weee lol

haha! I scored in the 90's and wish that I felt somewhat confident. If GPA was a factor, I wouldn't be concerned. I am hoping and praying every day that my score is enough.

some sort of good news? the person i sat next to during hesi exam, was going into radiology program, today i ran into on campus. he also said his class average was 79, so that means nursing and other programs are lumped together in the hesi? so maybe the nursing applicants have a worse average?? one can hope right? give us high 80's a chance!! :yeah:

secondly, does anyone know if you are denied, and reapply lets say for spring, do you have to redo the background check?
