Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

hey everyone! happy easter! hopefully we only have two weeks until we get our answer :)....I went onto web advisor and under prospective students and it only says admissions then has a place where you can search for classes....anyone know any other ways to check the status?

when you login & go back to prospective students it will give u the full options under admission registration.

hope this helps

Thanks for that info. I just looked and it just says ready to test. I'll be checking this multiple times during the day. haha

Hi I'm new here. I'm planning to take the placement tests for evening courses Spring 2012. I looked at the courses and I don't get how it's a 2 year program if the classes are all dispersed into 6 semesters with summers. Can anyone please explain? Thank you.

Assuming I understand your question and After your prereques are done.......after Level 1...you will have two classes per semester...6-7wks per class.

so Level 1 you have 3 classes...Basic / Pharm / Assessment = 181, 182, 183...Semester 1

If you haven't already, this is when you take MicroBiology....summer after level 1

Level 2: GI/GU and Resp/Cardio = 281, 282 Semester 2

Level 3: Pysche and Matern/Peds = 284, 285 Semester 3

Off for the summer...Look for an Externship

Level 4: Musculo/Neuro/Sensory and Endo/Immune-Sex/Hazardous = 290, 291 Semester 4

Look for a Job.....consider BCC's new BSN program thru Kean College...hehehe

Is it May yet??? :) Checking my email and webadvisor everyday... Every chance I get!!! Oh the waiting... :(

Applicants,

I don't think we are going to find out until the semester is over. There are plenty of students who still have to complete some prereq's. Remember, in order to sit for the exam, we had to complete the course or have the course in progress with a grade of C or better. I highly doubt they will send letters out before the grades come in:(

i believe your pre-req courses are not a final determinate in the application process. also, fall program does not require to have completed pre-req's only spring applicants must have them completed. either way, all you need is to pass the background check and get an adequate hesi score to be officially "accepted" or "declined".

new applicant here, good luck to us all!! i've been stalking my web advisor daily as well..:yeah:

I just did some research! Page 24 on this thread has date of May 25th for the 1st applicant to get to see "admitted" in thier web-advisor for the Fall 2010..oh my do we also have to wait so long?

Yep! That's why I think we have to wait until the grades are in. I am still taking chem and need to get a C in order to get into the day program. However, they tested until May 19th last year. So many variables....

I walked by the nursing department yesterday and they are on lock down! Lol

Fyi-the average last year was 67. I have a feeling we need a 90+ to get in for the fall.

Good luck to all!

I had a feeling that a 90+ is needed to get in and I was wondering how everyone did who applied on this site. I'm really nervous because I still don't think that a 91.3 is high enough considering they are going from the top down in terms of scores to fill spots.

Last sem, A girl from my A&P II class who was in the Day program got in with a score of 91. Their class average was a 76. I also remember her telling me that someone got in with a 72. That's pretty low, considering the class average was a 76 but got in anyway. For the evening program, I know another girl who got in with a 82, and another who was denied with a score of 79. So there is really no difinite way of telling who gets in and who doesn't, unless your score is above 90 or high 80's. I did ok, no lower than a 80 but not higher than a 90... :D That is why i'm pretty nervous and can't wait until we find out. :redbeathe I'm really hoping that I do get in.
