Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!
Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.
Thanks!
Hello everyone! I think I've read every post on here!!! I have found it extremely helpful, thank you all. I have applied to Bergen's 2011 Evening Program. I will be taking the test on November 8th and for those who have already taken the test, I was wondering if the Periodic Table Elements was given for the Chemistry section? I'm concerned we have to memorize AMU and Atomic numbers for each element. Thank you in advanced :)
kami97 girl!!...you are on point when it comes to answering these questions about the exam...do you remember what the Bilogy questions catered more towards...DNA/RNA...the organelles??? I just want to make sure Im studying exactly what is needed for the exam so i dont waste time. :) Thanks again...
HI Kami,
I've been ONLY studying the hesi study guide. Will this be enough for the test? I haven't taken bio and chemistry in such a long time and I'm afraid of those sections.
Is there a calculator on the math section? Do we get scrap paper? How long do we have for each section?
Also, does anyone work in any field related to nursing?
Does BCC give CNA certification for nursing students in the first semester?
Newstart85--I haven't taken to test yet but from what I've read on this thread I know that you have 3 hours for the entire test; it is not broken down into timed sections. I haven't taken Chem or Bio in over 5 years and I understand your anxiety. In addition to the HESI Review book, I also purchased 2 other books. Any Nursing Entrance Exam Books will do. In my opinion, the HESI book doesn't go into great detail in terms of the Science Section. I have found all the other sections useful. I purchased McGraw-Hill's Nursing School Entrance Exams book and I found the Biology and Science sections more useful than the HESI book. ISBN# 9780071599375. I hear the math section is fairly easy but i don't think you can use calculators.
I work as a Medical Assistant now and have been in this field for 8 years. (I'm not that old, promise! lol ) Fortunately, I have worked in various fields including, pediatrics, gynecology, internal medicine and for the passed 4 1/2 years I've worked in podiatry. I've never heard of BCC giving CNA certifications while in school but who knows.
Hope this is helpful. Good Luck

After the 3rd semester of Nursing, you can call Pearson Vue and sit for the written part of the CNA exam. You will be exempt from the practical part. They asked me to send a course description...and I think it was after NUR 285 I could then sit for the exam.
