Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!
Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.
Thanks!
by the way in case you guys didn't notice...the second i found out i was accepted i called up the school and they told me where to find the nursing packet (this was before it was posted up near the announcments on the site) anyway i went to it, and the deadline for a lot of the things we have to do including cpr certificate and malpractice insurance was JULY 15th.
now i just went to the site again, and right there posted up is the nursing packet, and the deadlines read JUNE 30th.
good thing i checked again, b.c. if i didn't i would have gone by the July 15th deadlines...........imagine. that got me a little mad! lol
there were some in my class that didn't complete the CPR class until after the semester started. The Profs said it had to be completed prior to the start of Clinicals. You will find in the first week there will be some that did not complete all that is required...i am talking the Vacs, CPR or even Malpractice.
Do your best to get whatever needs to be done....but remember this is the summer and many go on vacations or have limitations resulting from money, family and job commitments. moreover many CPR classes fill quickly....there are several programs in the area along with those needing to become certified for their jobs.
My CPR class was done the day before the start of the semester.
The shoes need to be all white. Mine have a stripe of red on the tongue and no one ever said anything but some instructors are stricter than others. To be safe, go for all white.
I co-sign this. Some of the Adjuncts may be less stringent....but the others may be a little more anal.
and I would get at least two name tags from Belle Uniform or wherever....like i said, some are anal.
Your uniform and appearance are part of your clinical evaluation.
Thanks for all the help!
I've registered for the CPR class, got malpractice insurance- I had to make mine effective within 60 days though so I chose August 1st. I'm ordering the kit today, and the uniforms I'll go for maybe Saturday I suppose.
When do you think orientation will be? Any ideas?
Hey KK! I am super excited to meet all of you guys soon! August 19th is the orientation...I will see you there! Perhaps when we start the semester, there will be more hustle and bustle on here. Maybe we should start another thread for our class? Just to keep it organized and relevant, which this thread hasn't been since like, we took over on the 3rd page lol.
