Bellevue College hopefuls 2014-2015

Published

Hey everyone, I didn't see a thread for this yet so I thought I would start one.

Is anyone else applying to BC for Fall 2014/Winter 2015 cohorts? I'm getting nervous with the deadline less than two months away. I did all my pre reqs there and it's my first choice school which probably adds to the nerves a bit. Are any of you finished with the application process yet? I think it's nice that this year, the background check is after the initial application just for the sake of saving money if I didn't score high enough on my TEAS to get in.

JustDance, I second Jaycam in thanking you for taking one for the team. Brave of you to call!

Hubby wants to take me on a trip for my birthday and we're trying to figure out when to schedule it. I sent an email to the school a few days ago asking whether they could let me know a week in May when the notices would NOT be going out. So far, no response.

I can see the college's perspective, though. If they say "yes" to one, then they'll need to talk to every one of the hundreds of applicants. Guess we'll just need to take our changes on the vacation. We'll probably get more than a week to respond, no?

SeattleJess, I think you usually get a month to respond.

Thanks, Justdance. That makes it easier to leave town!

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this board, I was getting so anxious waiting! Wish I found this before I called today, but I got the exact same response- that we would find out beginning next week! The person I talked to also said that we would be notified via email. I looked back at old forums, and the 2013-2014 cohort was notified via snail mail... so I'm not sure if I misheard or if they're changing things up this year? Anywhoo, THANK GOODNESS for whoever created this board and best of luck to everyone! Can't wait to meet you guys when we finally get accepted! :D

Oh, and also- did anyone else have an issue with their Hep B titer? Mine turned out negative for antibodies even though I received all three shots as a baby. Chie said that all I needed to do was get the booster since I didn't have time to wait and get a second titer done. I know it's kinda too late to do anything about that now, but I've been panicking ever since February that it would make me ineligible for the program. Any thoughts???

Hi Kare_Bear welcome to the board.

My understanding is that it is stories like yours that are exactly why they started to require the titer. The other side being there are people who don't build up enough of an immune response over the 3 shots as well, or had theirs long enough ago they need to get a booster, such as your self. Better for you to find out during the application process when there is still time to fix it than afterwards like people have in the past. I've not heard of anyone being required to get the second titer as long as they got the booster, though I can't say I have that much experience with the mater.

Hi kare bear,

I had a situation a little similar to yours. I didn't initially get my hepB titer because I thought that my proof of immunization was enough. I was contacted shortly after the application deadline saying I needed the titer test. I panicked and got the test done ASAP and after I sent in the documents I received an email saying my application was now complete. Not sure how much this relates to your situation, just thought I'd share my experience!

Thanks Jaycam and Asl2204! That's good to know that you were contacted saying you needed the titer. I panicked as well, so I included records for all 3 shots, the negative titer, and then the booster. I also included a printed copy of the email Chie sent me saying that all I needed were those three things, just to be on the safe side! I received an email saying my application was complete, so I'll assume that everything is ok since I never received a phone call or anything.

I never got an email saying my application was completed. Just the one saying they needed a new copy of my CPR card. Must not panic now. I'm sure it was fine, but a bit on edge.

Don't worry! :) They told me mine was completed only because I sent an email specifically asking if I had all the documents in.

Well that is reassuring. I went with the frame of thought that "the squeaky wheel gets the grease." AKA if nothings wrong, you wont hear about it.

Hi everyone,

I also am waiting impatiently to hear back about my application for Fall 2014/Winter 2015. Not on edge at all! It's great to hear that others are in the same boat and hopefully we will hear back soon because I'm about to bust with anxiety! If I find out anything, I will post! Good luck to everyone!

Welcome, bellucy and Kare bear! Glad you found the thread so you can share in our anxious anticipation these next couple days (or weeks!). Would you mind sharing your teas scores?
