Bellevue College hopefuls 2014-2015

Published

Hey everyone, I didn't see a thread for this yet so I thought I would start one.

Is anyone else applying to BC for Fall 2014/Winter 2015 cohorts? I'm getting nervous with the deadline less than two months away. I did all my pre reqs there and it's my first choice school which probably adds to the nerves a bit. Are any of you finished with the application process yet? I think it's nice that this year, the background check is after the initial application just for the sake of saving money if I didn't score high enough on my TEAS to get in.

Well, the date is approaching.....hoping my 84.0% on the TEAS will get me in to Winter Quarter....this whole waiting game is making me want to pull my hair out. Hope everyone is staying stress-free :-)

Seattle0212, do notices for Winter quarter go out at the same time as notices for Fall? Did we need to apply to Winter specifically or are we offered a spot in the Winter cohort if we didn't make the Fall class but had scores good enough for winter?

Hey SeattleJess, from what I understand notices for winter quarter will be sent out at the same time as fall. You didn't need to apply to winter specifically. Bellevue accepts 48 students each year. The top 24 scores will be in the fall cohort, and the next 24 scores will be placed in the winter cohort.

asl2204, I haven't called because I don't want to seem too pushy...but this is an idea. I guess they wouldn't know who it is that is calling unless you specifically told them.

Thanks, ThriftyKid! That is very useful information. Also reassuring because now it feels like I have a safety net. That, and telling myself that no one gets notices before May will get me through the next few weeks. Great to have this group so we can wait together.

I get the bored part. I signed up for a MOOC from Harvard on bioethics. Getting a bit antsy and needed distraction.

Brilliant idea, Jaycam. The idea of taking a MOOC class has been at the back of my mind. I wanted to take a course on writing a research paper this spring but couldn't get closer than second on the wait list. I need something to break the dreariness of waiting for notices and applying for entry level NAC positions. Thanks for mentioning it.

Well, I decided to be the irritating one and called to ask when notifications would be sent. The gal who answered told me that they had been instructed to tell people that it would be the last week of April or the first week of May. I pressed a little harder, asking if she knew if it would be before May 1st, which made her uncomfortable and still did not cause her to divulge any more information. So there we go....the waiting continues... :)

Well I, for one, appreciate you taking one for the team. Is good to have a time frame.

Jaycam, I thought maybe you would use your sneaky BC alliances to find out some classified info ;) j/k

Haha that explains why the desk lady was irritated when I asked her today. I got the same response, and a frustrated look for a bonus.

LOL. I may work on campus part time, but no sneaky alliances. I am painfully nerdy and a little awkward socially if it doesn't involve 'gross, awesome things in biology. '
