Bellevue College 2012 hopefuls

Hello everyone,

I have just applied to Bellevue College for Fall 2012/Winter 2013 and I just want to hear from anyone who has also applied there. What are your TEAS scores? Do you guys know when we will hear back regarding acceptance/ rejection letters? Is Bellevue College your first choice or are you guys spreading out your applications to other schools?

I had a friend finish the program last year, and she worked part-time, and still made time for a social life. I'm unsure about working during (at first, anyway).

Hi Everybody! I'm a little bit late, but I totally forgot I even had an account with this site ^^

I'll be in the Fall cohort and I'm starting to get a little overwhelmed with everything that needs to get done within the next month or so.

Welcome! Were you at the orientation? I'll be starting in fall too....best of luck to you!

I was sitting at the 3rd table from the front on the left side. Reading through the past posts it seems like we'll be in the same clinical group. I'm Thurs/Fri evenings as well.

Sounds good! I think I was sitting right in front of you. Nice to "meet" you!

Hey everyone! I am starting my second year in the BC nursing program in the fall. I just wanted to say, Congratulations on getting in!

Hi Grownuprosie! Any pointers/advice to us "newbies" would be greatly appreciated! We have our clinical information for fall quarter (VA); what types of clinicals have you done since? Have there been many students who have gotten on as nurse techs in your class? Congrats on surviving the first year! :yeah:

I am happy to answer any questions. :) My office is slow this week, so I need something to do...

I hung out on a resp/renal floor for Med/Surg1 and an ortho floor for Med/Surg2. I am not going to name the hospitals as one of them has a really strict social media policy. Pretty much, say their name on the internet in any context and they will contact your school if they find out.

We have several CNA/NACs in our class. Most of them were doing the job since before they got into the program. I think 1 person got a nurse tech job so far. Competition is FIERCE for those.

Advice? Treat the instructors like real people. Don't be one of those people that corrects their grammar or spelling. It makes you look rude. They are human. Sometimes they screw up. They still know more about nursing than I can dream of knowing. The instructors in this program will bend over backwards for any student. The least thing all of us can do is respect them. If not just because you are a good person, do it because you want a good reccomendation letter. They will wax poetic about you if you treat them with respect. I know this from experience.

Has anyone purchased the nurse pack from the bookstore yet? I am wondering how much it costs? Thanks!

Hmm IIRC, we were only supposed to get them from the bookstore if we're on financial aid. If we're self-pay, I think we just pay for them either at our next orientation meeting (a week before we start) or on our first lab day. I want to say it's somewhere between $150 and $200, but I truly can't recall. I'm more concerned with buying my textbooks right now!!! Got my fundamentals pack (from Amazon) and the delivery guy warned me before he handed me the box, as it was so heavy!!! LOL!!!

Hi Kristen~ OK...I didn't know that about the nurse pack....it just says on the purple sheet that the Nurse pack is to be purchased through the bookstore. Since I missed the orientation, I wasn't aware of the financial aid part.... oh well, I will call the bookstore or Chie on monday to find out and let you know. Thanks!

Yep, best to check on it and get the final word from Chie - I can't get to that information right now, but I think that's what I recall being said. Something about financial aid having to use a voucher for their books, and can only use it through the bookstore. Hopefully someone reading this can correct me if I'm mistaken!
