Being an individual

Nurses Men

Published

Hi, I'm still in nursing school, but wanted to know if there was any way to be an individual in the workplace. I'm talking pure fashion here. Is there anything you can wear, shoes, laces, variations in scrubs, pins on scrubs, sock choices, etc etc etc. Anything someone can do to set themselves apart in a sea of everyone wearing the same gear?

Had we always been color coded of course there'd be no issue.

If I'd been hired with Purple as my dress code I'd never blinked an eye.

There's something about telling me how I need to look and dress that makes me feel devalued, or disrespected.

They never said only males join the military, they used the military as an example of how males and females wear similar uniforms, but are slightly different between the sexes.

Personally, I really don't like the idea of having to wear a "male version" of a female uniform.

What, ya don't like those little puffy sleeves? :yeah:

Very interesting, thank you for posting. I believe that it is important to look good but not too flashy be ause in this profession you have to be quick on your feet radiate warmth and professionalism. I only have 3 or 4 scrubs so...but i keep them clean and iron them and also i have to point out that i take them off before going to grocery store or somewhere. I notice that people wear their scrubs everywhere at the store at a wedding at...everywhere. i come up to them and say are you for real? You are supposed to be the most knowladgeable person about contamination and you act like your in a scrub gang.

Wow who cares. Or wait sorry i forgot most of nurses are women so fashion is important and thats why this is a must read topic right? Meanwhile my queastion of what to expect out of psychiatric nurse practitioner program gets 0 answers. Maybe i should name my thread "should i wear blue or red pants to work"

Considering that this post was posted in the men in nursing forum, I think it's reasonable to assume that the OP is male; therefore the women-fashion connection isn't really applicable. Additionally, your topic was posted in the men in nursing forum, which is one that appears to get less traffic and is less than 2 hours old. Give it time.
