Ok I am a CNA and would like to become an RN....I keep hearing about there are some schools and programs that offer you a Degree Online to be come an RN in 2-3 years but, I can't find these programs if anyone knows how I can get into one of these programs could you please help me... I Live in Florida I would like to go through a program or a School in Florida if I can....

Thank you

There are really no ways to get out of the clinical component of nursing school at least that I'm aware of. If you find one, let me know.. haha. Most of the online courses are for associate degree RN's or diploma prepared RN's to become a BSN prepared nurse.

an associate degree For RN is what Im trying to get Online...

as far as I know this is not offered online because of labs and clinicals. I would feel insulted if they did offer the program online.

I think you have to be an LPN first before becoming an RN with online courses

Yes, you would have to be an LPN before you could get your RN online. You could take pre-freq's online through just about any college. Nursing would have to be done on campus. Sorry.

Specializes in Cardiac/ED.

I have done a little research in an online company called Regents that has an online program. I am not sure if they offer it in Floriday but its worth a check. They have contracts with different hospitals for clinical rotations but most of it is online. I have heard good and bad about it from both people in the program and nurses that have to preceptor their students after graduation. The one issue that I had is that they would not tell me how much the program was...they would break it down per item but when asked what it cost from start to finish they absolutely refused to answer. The second was from the nurses that had to preceptor their grads that they are a little weak from their lack of clinical time. I'm in sac and they have a contract with a hospital in San Fran for clinicals.

Good luck, P2

Welcome to Rio Salado College

I would like to welcome you to the Nursing Program at Rio Salado College. Rio Salado College is one of ten community colleges within the Maricopa Community College District that offers an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. Rio's program is designed for individuals for both Block 1 and advanced placement students. The nursing program is offered in partnership with health care organizations. One hundred percent of the didactic courses are online and the clinical courses are completed with the health care partnerships.

Rio Salado College offers much of the content through an online format. Students interested in this option need to have a "reliable" Internet service provider and computer capability to access on-line courses. Clinical laboratory courses will meet the same requirements as those offered at other MCCDNP programs. Every pre-requisite, co- requisite and nursing course is offered through Rio Salado College. Student enrollment advisors are available to assist you with transcript evaluation and course enrollment.

All Block 1 students must take the NET test prior to admission. All Advanced Placement students interested in the Rio Salado program must take the HESI-PN test. The HESI-PN measures a nurse's ability to apply basic nursing skills using principles of safe effective care and will determine placement into the nursing program. Note that a fingerprint clearance card is required and takes approximately 5 weeks to obtain. Your receipt is not enough. We need a copy (front and back) of your actual clearance card.

The Nursing Faculty at Rio Salado College are Registered Nurses with advanced degrees (BS, MS or PhD) and have been involved with the creation of an on-line format for the MCCDNP curriculum. The Nursing Program at Rio Salado College is designed to be completed in 4 consecutive semesters. Successful students will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam. The estimated cost to complete the in-state program is $4,500, and out-of-state is $8500. Costs include tuition, test fees, textbooks, uniforms, health physical, graduation fee, and nursing pin.

... clinicals... From what I hear, you have to arrange them for yourself. I'm sure they must offer some kind of assistance in doing so.

"Some kind of assistance" might just be a list of local hospitals or previous preceptors that may or may not be willing to accept another student... so CHECK THIS OUT before signin up and spending money.

It's not totally unheard of (though luckily very uncommon!) for less-than-ethical schools to leave their students stuck unable to complete their degrees turning it around and saying it's YOUR responsibility - that you need to "take responsibility for your own learning experiences" - and leave you having to scramble and piece together some sort of clinical experience for yourself.

I'm graduating from an online RN program in December. It is run by my local community college. We do the same course work and clinical hours as the students in the traditional Associate's Degree program, but instead of attending lectures, we receive our assignments online and complete the work independently.

It has worked beautifully for me. I love the flexibility and the fact that I don't have to drive through traffic to get to campus (excepting on days that we have exams or an occasional mandatory seminar or skills checkoff).

sshannon where do u go to school at and can out of state students do the program also.
