I have a friend who is in a 5 year monitoring program with 3 Urine etg per month and probably around 2-3 peth a year. She's in a very tough state with a strict monitoring program. She's already past her 2 year mark I believe.
Anyway, she apparently drank 6-7 drinks on a long weekend, and then had a random peth right on the Monday. She already had a peth just recently. The peth came back very low positive, at 24. Below 20 is reported abstinence.
Now, they are making her go to a 96 hour evaluation to determine the next steps. She is saying she ate beef burgundy as to why she has a positive peth. But I think she knows also that the 96 hour evaluation is just a "show" and that they will recommend rehab again. If that happens, she would need to put her job on hold, or more likely lose her current job.
Don't try to mess around here folks! Because if your program has random peth tests, you can't beat that.

Right I agree. They will catch you. It's no way around it! Who wants to start over or go inpatient.

I don't drink anything with alcohol. I want to finish my sentence. Alcohol can wait

Heck yea I don't take anything with alcohol. I don't take anything. I hate when I cant treat my bad colds though. On accident I ate a king cake with bourbon and I made myself vomit. LOL You have to watch everything. It definitely can wait. LOL

Been there done that!
No poppy seads, etoh etc. Etc
Its Walking a tightrope...
5 yours is a long time to prove yourself. We have to work a hundred times as hard as the next nurse to demonstrate our abilities. The stigma stands. Good luck to all of you. One Day at a Time 🙂

this wasn't an innocent mistake. sounds like the testing did it's job. she's freely drinking while on strict monitoring. She needs help, not more ways to not get discovered.

Im no one to judge but that was a risky thing to do. And to be that far into the program. Hope she gets the help she needs.
Not everyone in monitoring has a sud. I assumed this person didn't and was just enjoying a few adult beverages. Maybe I was incorrect. Either way, the point for those of us in monitoring is to be done with it.

Can't wait to be done with it as I don't have a Substance abuse issue as well. I just chose not to risk anything because the system is definitely set up to catch someone if they slip up.

Same. I read all ingredients. I don't eat or drink a lot of My favorite stuff because it may contain alcohol or poppy seeds. I miss my favorite foods. I'll gain a lot of weight when this is over.

Yes I agree, I don't think it was an innocent mistake. The whole story is odd to me.
