BCTC Fall 2013 Applicants

Hi all! Just wanted to see if there are any other BCTC applicants out there. I'm getting super anxious about hearing whether I got in or not, and didn't know if anyone else wanted to discuss our waiting time! Best of luck to everyone. ?

I just registered for NSG101, and there is only one clinical day a week, so you really only need one pair of scrubs, but I'm planning on buying 2, just in case I get something spilt on me while we're on site.

Also, when I registered, I had to go to the student records office to get them to override something , and they registered me there. Apparently there's a glitch in the system somewhere, and all of the nursing program classes are having to be registered for this way.

OK. After emailing student records, they went ahead and enrolled me in the nsg 101 course. Its a lecture, lab and clinical. However the lab is TBA. They must be having issues with the system because they had to overide it and enroll me through their system. Looks like i have class like all week long, but i get out by like noon every day, except for clinicals (7-5). Im also taking his 101 online, so hopefully that class isnt too hard, im terrible at history!!!

Awesome because I live in rabbit run across from Palomar and I have not received my packet either! I checked my SAS account and my address is correct.

I'm thinking about going to campus to pick up my packet Friday if it doesn't come in the mail tomorrow because it didn't come today AND because the last time BCTC mailed me an official document it took 3 weeks to get to me:(!

Anyone else still waiting for their packets or just me???

A friend of mine lives close to me...over by lansdowne, and although I received my packet Tuesday, she didn't get hers and the post office says they don't have it. I think the post offices like to "lose" important things. Lol.

I would definitely go get a new packet.

I haven't received my packet yet either, but I did go to the office of admissions and inquired about the packet. I was told if I did not receive it by Friday, to go in first thing Monday morning and they would get me a new one. Hope that helps.

I received my packet yesterday via postal mail and I turned in my 3 forms today just before stack of forms was picked up to be processed. YAH!!!!!!

I got the skinny on the process of registering for NSG 101 for fall 2013. Once your signed yellow forms are turned in they must be processed, when they are processed your status will reflect your acceptance and enrollment into the program on people soft. Then next step is being assigned an advisor, we will ALL get an email over the summer prior to AUG 1 in reference to registering for NSG 101.

I specifically asked if I could speak to my nursing advisor to register for NSG 101 and I was told by a nursing advisor the following:

We ALL register for NSG101 after we receive the email over the summer prior to AUG 1 (the email has detailed instructions of the registration process).

The system will be purged for NSG 101 course before we receive the email so if you somehow registered for NSG101 now, you will be purged out.

There are zero chances that your spot in NG101 will be gone as long as you turn in your 3 yellow signed forms before the deadline listed.

I meet with 2 people in administration with the nursing program BCTC who gave me the information above.

Thanks for the info! I guess I'm just confused, because I spoke to a nursing advisor on Wednesday when I turned in my letter of intent and other documents, and was told that as long as the admissions office had received those documents, and I had no holds on my account that I could register for NSG 101, with no chance of being removed from the class. Frankly, I'm kind of upset that we're getting told conflicting information, and I'm also going to be really upset if we do get purged from that class because I have to do my clinical day on Wednesday as I have to work full time in addition to going to school. I have a feeling that if we do get purged from those classes that I'll end up in the Friday clinical which I cannot do.

I turned in my packet and was switched in the system with no trouble. After speaking with my advisor, i was enrolled in my class, no promblem. I have a schedule complete with times/dates/teachers. I dont think they can purge anyone from the system, once we are actually enrolled. I will be very upset if they do, because i choose classes and my clinical that worked around work. I even had to change my sons enrollment at his school for next semester to accomadate my wed. clinical. It worries me that everyone is getting a different story. I really hope this whole program isn't like this. Although, someone told me to be sure to make copies and hold on to everything because they will lose stuff or not enter grades correctly. I really hope this isn't the case.

Did you speak to pre-busing advisors or nursing advisors? Whom did you speak to exactly? They are very different.my info came from Nathan and a nursing advisor, teacher, nursing program admin. I would like to get this ironed out in Monday, so if you. Can let me know who you spoke to, I'll ask them the same questions and see what happens and let you all know.
