Hi Everyone!
I just decided to make this thread because I'm looking for some advice/insight on what more to do to get into the BCIT Nursing Program. I'm finishing up my last pre-req (BPK 325 at SFU) this semester and want to apply for the January 2016 intake. I have recently started volunteering at Nursing home and will have 50 hours by June and I currently have 50+ hours volunteering with the city of Surrey.
Any advice would be great! Thanks :)
Thank you Bananapie and Sood, I just checked my status and it has been changed to Acceptance offered Cond. Accept-supplemental" too. Super excited and looking forward to meet you all in January!
Just want to share my application experience with people who are planning on applying to BCIT Nursing but do not have Canadian credentials.
I went to high school overseas. BCIT recognizes high school transcripts from overseas as long as it's translated by a certified translator. I have an undergraduate degree from a non-English speaking country, and I graduated many many years ago. I did not submit my undergraduate transcripts with my application (did not have enough time to have it translated and verified), so I'm not sure whether the admission committee took my BA into consideration since I only submitted the degree certificate.
I also have a Master's degree of education from SFU, with 35 graduate credits.
Regarding the pre-reqs, I did two part of A&P, English and Psyc at VCC last year. All my pre-req grades are in the A- to A+ range.
Volunteer: I have about 200 volunteer hours from hospitals and clinics.
My previous working experiences are not related with health care, though I did work in Vancouver for 4 years full-time before I decided to persue my nursing dream.
I did not prepare well for the NCQ, but I think I did an OK job although I went over 10 minutes. I guess they are not so strict on the 90 minutes bar because they still took me in :)
Good Luck to everyone who are planning to apply, and congrats again to all who got in!
Hi! I have made a facebook group for our intake! It's under the BCIT Groups as "Nursing January 2016 Intake" Hope to see you there and for our class to find it! Congratulations and I'm excited to meet everyone!
Just an aside: you must have an @my.bcit.ca or @bcit.ca email address to join the BCIT groups page and I had to do it on my laptop (my phone wouldn't let me).
Hi guys í ½í¸Š congrats on those who got offered acceptance!!
I was wondering, does anyone know if the $200.00 commitment fee is included in the tuition fees? Because there's this other heading under the self service menu that says "pay commitment fee."
Any help is appreciated í ½í¸Š thank you.

I just read the bcit tuition page and yes the $200 is taken off the total tuition. The commitment fee just holds your spot until you pay the full tuition. I'm not sure if you can just ignore the commitment fee and pay tuition in full though.
Thanks Bananapieí ½í¸Š !
I emailed the admissions officer regarding this matter and this is what she told me "Please pay the full tuition showing on your account. The $200 commitment fee is included in that amount. Because of the timing of your acceptance we are asking for the full tuition. If you end up withdrawing later within the refund deadline date then $200 is taken off your refund."
So we don't have to pay both account balance AND commitment fees, because they're included in the tuition listed in our account í ½í¸Š

Hey all,
I just got accepted as well with an email saying Welcome to BCIT Jan 2016 class with Conditional Accept status. I'm looking forward to meeting you all! There's going to be a lot of additional items for us to submit and deadlines to meet but it's going to be an exciting process! For those wondering about GPA, my GPA is definitely not the highest nor did I think that I did superb on the NCQ but I did have a lot of volunteer experience as well as an undergraduate degree from UBC already so I guess that helped.
